The Senior Investment Professional – Municipal Credit research role will report directly to the Co-Lead of Investment Grade Corporate and Municipal Credit Research. As a Senior Investment Professional on the Municipal Credit Research team you will be responsible for covering assigned sectors and individual credits within the Investment Grade municipal bond market. The role will involve working with Portfolio Managers and Traders to identify, analyze and recommend municipal securities for Nationwide Investments clients’ portfolios, as well as providing regular surveillance on those securities. Responsibilities will also include work on various ad hoc projects and interfacing with professionals in other groups within Nationwide Investments.
Experience with CreditScope, while not required, is a plus.
This position will be hired on a SuccessFlex basis.
The hired associate must reside within 35 miles of the following location:
Columbus: Three Nationwide Plaza, Columbus OH, 43215
Work schedule: 3 days in office, 2 days remote.
Minimal travel for two annual conferences.
This role does not qualify for employer sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the STEM OPT extension program.

Independently completes research and analysis of the most complex issuers and is a leader in the development the team's overall investment strategy.
Contributes to enhancement of the team's investment processes and standards with a focus on optimizing performance relative to clients' investment objectives; this may include mentoring and development of less experienced associates.
Identifies innovative solutions and makes decisions that directly impacts investment performance and the decision-making process.
Identifies risk and return drivers, develops and models forward-looking scenarios, analyzes relative value, and provides investment recommendations for positioning within assigned sectors.
Communicates analysis and investment theses through use of written reports, presentations, conversations, and market meetings.
Evaluates changes in the economic, regulatory, legislative, and competitive business environments that impact investment fundamentals, valuations, and positioning within client portfolios.
Builds relationships with internal and external partners to facilitate the analysis of investment opportunities.
Collaborates successfully with other Nationwide Investment groups to advance our clients’ best interests.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Head of Investments Fixed Income. May lead a team of Investment Analysts/Professionals.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree; MBA, MS or MA in business administration, economics, finance, or CFA preferred.
Experience: 8 to 12 years of related investment experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Conversant in major fixed income and equity valuation methodologies
Considered an expert Investment Grade Credit Researcher
Proficient in Excel; prior Bloomberg experience is a plus
Leadership potential or currently capable of being a team leader
Advanced understanding of Credit Research tools and processes
