Senior Instrument Engineer (MIRI, Sarawak Office)
Position Overview
The Senior Instrument Engineer will provide expert consultancy services in instrumentation and control systems for engineering projects. This role involves designing, specifying, and overseeing the implementation of instrumentation solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Instrumentation Design & Engineering
• Develop and review instrumentation and control system designs, drawings, and specifications.
• Ensure alignment with project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory frameworks.
• Design and specify instrumentation systems, including control devices, valves, and automation technologies.

2. Design Flow Requirements
• Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) to outline control loops, flow paths, and process streams.
• Create Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to define instrument locations, connections, and control schemes.
• Prepare Instrument Index & Data Sheets cataloging specifications, operating conditions, and technical details.
• Conduct Instrument Sizing Calculations for flow elements, control valves, and orifice plates to optimize performance.
• Perform Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP) to identify and mitigate potential risks.
• Conduct Hazard Identification (HAZID) studies to proactively assess risks during early design stages.

3. Technical Support & Vendor Management
• Provide expert guidance on instrumentation selection, calibration, and maintenance strategies.
• Evaluate vendor proposals and oversee procurement of instrumentation and control system components.

4. Project Execution & Coordination
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including process, electrical, and automation engineers.
• Participate in design reviews, hazard analyses, and risk assessments to enhance project reliability.
• Support commissioning activities and troubleshoot instrumentation-related issues during project implementation.

5. Compliance & Documentation
• Ensure adherence to international standards (e.g., ANSI, IEC, ISA, API) for instrumentation and control systems.
• Maintain accurate documentation, guidelines, and technical specifications throughout project phases.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers to foster skill development.

Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering or a related discipline. 
• Minimum 10 years of experience in instrumentation design and engineering within the oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial sectors. • Strong knowledge of DCS, PLC, SCADA, SIS, and Fire & Gas (F&G) systems.
• Extensive experience across FEED, EPC, and commissioning phases of large-scale projects.
