Human Resource Contact:jessica.nielsen@wyo.gov 307-532-6613 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level. + This position performs all the duties of the HVAC Specialist. + Installs, adjusts, troubleshoots, and maintains electrical, direct digital controls, and electronic/pneumatic/mechanical temperature control devices on HVAC/R systems. + Conducts routine maintenance on HVAC/R equipment. + Provides oversight on HVAC/R projects performed by outside contractors for code compliance, payments, design, and installation. + Works with professional engineers on project design and construction. + Designs and conducts cost estimates for the installation of environmental control units and facility support systems that need new systems or replacement systems. + Manages the procurement and use of ozone-depleting substances. + Conducts efficiency analysis on HVAC systems and proposes energy-saving modifications. + Utilizes infrared imaging for predictive maintenance. + Installs and maintains various mechanical equipment. + Performs seasonal startup and shutdown of heating and air-conditioning plants and other related equipment. + Works around Hazardous and/or toxic materials. + Responsible for ensuring a safe and enjoyable workplace, including participation in initiatives designed to promote a positive work environment Qualifications PREFERENCES: Preference may be given to those with 3-4 years of progressive work experience in the HVAC field. KNOWLEDGE: + Knowledge of refrigeration cycle, refrigerants, air conditioning, and related air handling equipment. + Knowledge of acceptable practices, methods, and tools used in installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC-R Equipment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's Degree Experience: 0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in HVAC) with acquired knowledge at the level of an HVAC Specialist OR Education & Experience Substitution: 3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in HVAC) with acquired knowledge at the level of an HVAC Specialist Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Agency may require an EPA License.
