Senior Human Resources Representative (Hybrid) - Chicago Job ID #: 30883 Location: IL-ARGO Functional Area: Human Resources Position Type: Full Time Experience Required: 5 - 7 Years Relocation Provided: No Education Required: Bachelors Degree RC/Department: 0050 -HR GENERALISTS :KMGP Position Description We are seeking a Senior Generalist with experience in labor relations to support a client group of approximately 300 bargaining and non-bargaining employees across multiple sites in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Minnesota and Wisconsin. This role will serve as a strategic support partner with particular focus on union labor relations, regulatory compliance, and guidance to leadership. This individual will be based onsite at one of our regional facilities and will operate as the sole HR presence for this region, while reporting remotely to the Manger of Human Resources. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Regulatory Compliance + Ensure adherence to federal and state employment laws, including EEOC, NLRB, FMLA, FLSA, ADA, Title VII, and state-specific labor laws in IL, IN, OH, MO, MN, and WI. + Conduct investigations into workplace complaints, participate in investigations, draft and coordinate responses. Labor Relations & Union Engagement + Lead and support collective bargaining negotiations across unionized locations. + Serve as the primary liaison with union representatives and local leadership teams. + Oversee the grievance process, ensuring consistency, compliance, and timely resolution; represent the company in arbitration hearings as needed. + Manage labor relations strategy, including union engagement and avoidance practices where applicable. + Collaborate with HR Manager and legal on matters involving union campaigns, and labor compliance issues. Business Partnership + Act as a strategic HR consultant to operational leaders, helping to drive workforce strategies aligned with business goals. + Guide management on performance management, compensation, benefits, employee relations, engagement strategies, and policy interpretation. + Support organizational change, leadership coaching, and workforce planning initiatives. + Job requires critical thinking and the ability to manage competing priorities in order to meet the needs of the client group. + Ensure effective communication and administration of company policies, procedures, programs, changes and related issues. + Apply effective conflict resolution strategies. + Partner with operations to identify staffing needs and develop recruitment strategies. + Facilitate and conduct training on a variety of HR initiatives. + Other related duties as assigned. Position Requirements + Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or related field. + Minimum 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including 5+ years in labor relations role. + Demonstrated expertise in: + Union contract negotiations + Grievance/arbitration processes + In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR compliance. + Experience supporting a client base across multiple sites. Competencies, Skill and Abilities + Ability to counsel managers and employees on performance guidelines and expectations with minimal assistance. + Ability to identify and resolve complex and sensitive HR issues. + Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of the organization. + Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisors(s), prioritize work, focus attention on detail and follow work rules. + Multi-task, organize, prioritize work and maintain strict confidentiality. + Above average proficiency in the use of Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, TEAMS). + Excellent written and oral communication skills. + Ability to perform the required duties with little or no direct supervision. + Maintain a regular, dependable attendance, and high level of performance. + Strong interpersonal, leadership, and negotiation skills. + Excellent problem-solving, communication, and conflict resolution abilities. + High emotional intelligence and professional maturity. Client Group & Travel + Provide hands-on HR support to a multi-site client group of approximately 300 union and non-union employees in the terminals business. + Travel regularly to terminal locations within the Midwest region to ensure alignment, visibility, and partnership. Preferred + Master’s degree + SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification. + HR experience in oil and gas or industrial environments.
