The Senior Human Centrifuge Technician is primarily in support of the US Navy Centrifuge Flight Environment Training (CFET) Contract. Via the CFET contract, KBR AEPL supports the USN and USMC aviator training pipeline with academic and centrifuge training on acceleration and the Anti-G Straining Maneuver (AGSM). KBR provides approximately 50 classes per year for initial students and also supports the Naval Flight Demonstration Squadron (Navy Blue Angels) with centrifuge training twice each year. This position may include support for RDT&E activities in the centrifuge or altitude chambers as required. This is a part-time (0-19 hours a week) “on-call” position.
Primary Duties:
Perform daily crew chief duties on centrifuge to include all safety checks and gondola configuration. Assist engineer in performing all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. Clean centrifuge areas as needed. Perform daily duties as Data Station Operator, record video and research data during training and research protocols. Perform duties as centrifuge Operator as needed. Perform duties as centrifuge Central Observer. Perform unit FOD inspection. Perform G-suit inspections and fitting as needed. Assist engineer with calibrations of scientific equipment used to monitor research subjects. Train new personnel as centrifuge operators, data station or lecturer. Serve as AGSM Instructor in both the classroom and centrifuge. Reconfigure the centrifuge to support RDT&E and training. The technician will also perform as part of an altitude chamber crew on occasion and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
The Centrifuge Technician must:
+ Have a minimum of 10 years of experience in operating and maintaining human centrifuges.
+ Be medically qualified and willing to act as an inside observer on altitude chamber flights.
+ Have experience and skill as a platform instructor.
+ Have at least 10 years of experience teaching the anti-G straining maneuver.
+ Be able to work in a demanding, team-oriented environment.
+ Be able to obtain a NACI clearance.
Highly desired:
+ Experience with the Brooks Centrifuge.
+ Recent human centrifuge experience.
+ Experience in altitude chamber operation and maintenance.
+ Experience in aircrew life support systems and research.
