Job DescriptionAECOM Calgary is seeking a Senior Highway & Bridge Project Manager to join our growing Transportation team.
This role will lead the delivery of complex municipal and provincial highway and bridge projects across Alberta, working closely with multidisciplinary technical teams, clients, and contractors. The successful candidate will bring a strong foundation in civil engineering or technical project delivery, combined with senior-level project management experience in transportation infrastructure.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Lead and manage the delivery of complex highway, bridge, and other transportation projects for municipal, provincial, federal, and private-sector clientsProvide overall project leadership, including scope definition, work planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and governanceServe as the primary point of contact for clients, leading project communications, progress reporting, and issue resolutionCoordinate and oversee internal design teams, sub-consultants, and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality, on-time project deliveryLead procurement activities, including preparation and review of proposals, scopes of work, cost estimates, and fee negotiationsMonitor and manage project financial performance, resourcing, forecasting, and change management in alignment with contractual requirementsReview and approve key project deliverables, reports, correspondence, and client submissionsFacilitate and chair client meetings, progress reviews, and coordination sessionsEnsure quality management by enforcing compliance with corporate policies, procedures, and project controlsContribute and lead business development activities, client relationship management, and strategic growth initiativesMentor and support the development of junior project managers and technical staff in conjunction with senior managementPerform additional duties intended to support leadership growth within a transportation project delivery environment
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of total experience in project management, with demonstrated leadership on highway and/or bridge infrastructure projects, as well as general transportation projects.PEng or PMP
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of experience delivering highway and/or bridge projects in AlbertaDemonstrated experience delivering projects for local municipal and provincial clients.Strong understanding of project governance, financial controls, and risk managementAbility to lead multidisciplinary teams in both in-person and virtual environmentsExperience managing projects through planning, design, and/or construction phasesStrong knowledge of Transportation & Economics Corridor standards, specifications, and delivery modelsExperience working with consultants, contractors, and public-sector clientsFamiliarity with construction contract administration, claims, and change management processesOutstanding written and verbal communication skills, including report writingExperience mentoring project managers or leading project teamsDemonstrated experience in leading winning proposal effortsAdditional Information
