Senior Geotechnical Engineer
We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to support a range of sustaining capital and heavy haul rail infrastructure projects across Western Australia. Based in Perth, this role will involve technical geotechnical input, design coordination, and ad hoc site visits to active rail and infrastructure projects.

The Opportunity
This is a unique opportunity for a technically strong and solutions-oriented Geotechnical Engineer (with 3–10 years' experience) to step into a mid-level role and contribute directly to the successful delivery of sustaining capital projects.

Location: Perth, Western Australia
Work Type: Contract (12+ months)
Roster: 5/2 (Monday to Friday) Key Responsibilities Plan and manage geotechnical site investigations (fieldwork, lab testing, reporting). Interpret ground conditions and prepare geotechnical models. Provide geotechnical design input for rail embankments, cuttings, foundations, slope stability, drainage, and retaining structures. Produce high-quality technical reports and geotechnical design documentation for clients, contractors, and design teams. Contribute to risk assessments, constructability reviews, and value engineering exercises. Review third-party geotechnical reports and provide peer input as required. Utilize and maintain geotechnical databases and data management systems (e.g., OpenGround, gINT). Collaborate closely with civil, structural, and environmental teams to ensure integrated design solutions. Travel to sites on an as-needed basis to support investigation or construction phases. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a major in Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent). 3 to 10 years of practical geotechnical engineering experience. Demonstrated experience in brownfield infrastructure or rail projects. Familiarity with soft soil conditions, fill embankments, ground improvement, or similar. Proficiency with geotechnical software such as: OpenGround or gINT PLAXIS, SLIDE, SLOPE/W, or equivalent numerical modelling tools GIS systems for spatial analysis and mapping (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) Excellent technical report writing and communication skills Mid-level geotechnical engineers looking to grow in a multidisciplinary project environment Candidates with broad project exposure—not just mining
