Senior Garment Technologist

Objective:

This position is responsible for leading the end-to-end technical development and fit approval process across all categories, ensuring product consistency, quality, and fit alignment with brand standards and customer expectations. This role acts as a key link between design, buying, and suppliers to deliver commercially viable, technically sound garments ready for bulk production.

Key Responsibility:

Oversee the creation and approval of technical packs, including size specifications, block details, construction methods, and graded measurements. Lead and manage fit sessions from development to pre-production (PP), ensuring product fit consistency across collections. Review and approve development, fit, and PP comments, ensuring clarity and technical accuracy for vendor execution. Collaborate closely with buying, design, and quality teams to troubleshoot fit, construction, and material issues during the development cycle. Review patterns and proactively correct fit issues; propose block improvements and implement grading standards. Conduct wearer trials to evaluate comfort, functionality, and sizing feedback for refining garment fit. Calculate fabric consumption and assist with cost optimization through technical solutions. Validate GPT (Garment Performance Testing) reports and participate in commercial discussions with the department head to approve or reject batches. Liaise with vendors and factories, offering technical guidance to ensure timely resolution of development or production issues. Review production and shipment samples to confirm adherence to agreed specifications for fit, quality, labeling, and packaging. Monitor compliance with brand and industry standards in workmanship, construction, and size grading across all regions. Lead innovation initiatives in garment construction and fit, including the development, upkeep, and refinement of fit block libraries to support consistency, efficiency, and product evolution across collections.

Desired Experience:

5-7 years of progressive experience in garment technology, pattern making, or technical design within a retail or sourcing environment. Strong expertise in garment construction, grading, and fit across multiple categories. Experience in vendor management, fit approvals, and garment testing procedures. Proficiency in pattern design software and technical documentation.
