Here, you’ll have the tools and opportunities to advance your career while creating software that changes the world. **Your role and responsibilities** * Design, prototype and implement UI features while ensuring stability and usability for on-premise/self-managed and cloud-based software * Collaborate closely with Product Design and Product Management partners, as well as engineers on your team and others * Act as a subject matter expert on frontend development with emphasis on TypeScript, modern component architectures, and security-conscious UI patterns * Work with highly technical backend systems and implement interfaces that make advanced functionality understandable and accessible to a broad range of users * Lead and execute large-scale frontend projects, including OpenAPI-driven dynamic form generation, design system migrations, and modular architecture patterns * Drive end-to-end project lifecycle, including architecture design, implementation, and issue resolution, with a focus on quality and efficiency * Evaluate project tradeoffs and propose solutions, proactively removing blockers and keeping stakeholders informed on progress, issues, and milestones * Debug and resolve complex UI issues, including API integration, performance optimization, and security vulnerabilities * Make architectural decisions around framework migrations, library adoption, state management patterns, and testing strategies * Advocate for strategic technical roadmap initiatives, or improvements to team process that enhance the system's overall effectiveness across teams and the organization * Mentor and guide frontend engineers, sharing technical knowledge and promoting best practices in development processes * Maintain high code quality through comprehensive testing from development to deployment **Required technical and professional expertise** * You have at least 6+ years of professional frontend development experience with modern JavaScript frameworks * You have deep experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript and at least one major frontend framework (React, Angular, Vue, Ember, or similar) * You have led or executed large-scale frontend migrations (e.g., framework upgrades, design system adoptions, data layer refactoring) in production applications * You have comprehensive testing experience including unit, integration, and acceptance testing with frameworks like QUnit, Jest, or similar, plus experience with mock server tools (Mirage, MSW, etc.) * You have experience with RESTful API integration, error handling, custom API service layers, and OpenAPI/Swagger **Preferred technical and professional experience** * You have production experience with Ember.js (version 4.x or 5.x), including Ember Data migrations, router architecture, and Ember CLI build pipelines * You have experience with build tools (webpack, Vite, etc.) and package managers (npm, yarn, pnpm) * You understand security-first development practices including CSP, XSS prevention, secure authentication flows (OIDC, SAML, MFA), and handling sensitive data in frontend applications IBM is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer.
