Senior Front-end Developer (Information Security)
Job Summary:
Walgreens is seeking a highly skilled Senior Front-end Developer to join our Security team in Deerfield, IL. In this role, you will lead the development of engaging, scalable, and secure front-end web applications for one of the nation’s largest pharmacy and retail companies. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless digital experiences across web platforms, while applying modern web development practices and ensuring compliance with the latest security standards.

Key Responsibilities:Design, develop, and maintain responsive and accessible front-end interfaces using JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.Collaborate with UX/UI designers, product managers, and back-end engineers to implement high-quality user interfaces.Optimize application performance and user experience across a variety of devices and browsers.Integrate front-end components with secure back-end services and RESTful APIs.Ensure all front-end code meets security best practices (e.g., XSS, CSRF, CORS, Content Security Policy).Conduct code reviews, provide mentorship to junior developers, and promote development best practices.Maintain knowledge of emerging front-end technologies and propose strategic adoption when appropriate.Work in an Agile/Scrum environment, contributing to planning, estimation, and retrospectives.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience in IT Security OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 4 years of experience in IT SecurityAt least 1 year of experience working with security protocols and standards, vulnerability assessment tools, packet analyzers, scripting languages and security management suites, penetration testing tools and countermeasures and mitigation techniques applied to web applications.Experience with security engineering, identity engineering security applications engineering and/or security infrastructure engineeringExperience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, in the business community & with vendors.Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state)

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.5+ years of professional experience in front-end development.Advanced proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and front-end frameworks (React, Vue.js, or Angular).Solid understanding of web development principles including responsive design, accessibility (WCAG), and browser compatibility.Experience with secure coding practices and front-end security technologies.Familiarity with tools such as Webpack, Babel, ESLint, and Git.Experience working in Agile development environments.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse teams.Experience with enterprise-scale web applications.Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.Familiarity with Walgreens’ digital ecosystem is a plus.Certifications in secure web development or front-end frameworks.
Salary Range: $98600 - $157500 / Salaried
