JOB OVERVIEW 
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of a Senior Financial Analyst.

 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Accounting and Reporting, this position is responsible to demonstrate experience collaborating with project teams on the implementation of new systems (including S/4HANA and Oncore) with solid SAP knowledge, a strong analytical background in preparing and processing journal entries, advanced proficiency in Excel and Power BI, and a proven ability to leverage technology and process improvements to drive operational efficiency.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES  

Support the implementation of new systems (such as S/4HANA and Oncore) by collaborating closely with project teams and stakeholders. Leverage SAP knowledge to assist in system integration, troubleshooting, and user training during project rollouts. Prepare and process journal entries accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures. Conduct analytical reviews of financial data to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for improvement. Utilize advanced Excel skills to develop and maintain complex spreadsheets, models, and reports for project tracking and analysis. Create and interpret Power BI dashboards to visualize data, monitor project progress, and support decision-making. Identify and recommend process improvements by evaluating current workflows and leveraging technology for greater efficiency. Act as a liaison between finance and IT/project teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment on system requirements and process changes.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

4 year University Degree such as in Finance or Business, etc., plus 1 year of further concentrated study. Over 6 years experience as a Financial Analyst Experience supporting system implementations, particularly with S/4HANA, Oncore, and SAP environments. Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to prepare and process journal entries accurately. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, data analysis, and reporting. Hands-on experience with Power BI for building dashboards and interpreting data visualizations. Demonstrated ability to identify and drive process improvements using technology and best practices. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working cross-functionally between finance, IT, and project teams.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
