Position: Senior Financial Analyst

About the Role
As a member of the global Centre of Expertise (CoE), you will provide insight for the Research business unit. You will primarily be responsible for providing financial planning and forecasting analysis and reporting of sales and related revenue insights. You will own the day-to-day management of the sales environment of the Elsevier planning, budgeting and forecasting tool (Hyperion Planning).
 

Responsibilities:

Gathering, interprets, and analyzes information, makes assessments, and completes reconciliations. 

Providing critical financial insights to the executive team by conducting in-depth analysis, scenario planning, and trend identification that guides strategic decision-making. 

Gaining a deep understanding of our financial systems and processes. 

Analyzing large sets of data and extracts valuable insights to present to leadership and business partners. 

Supporting month-end close activities, preparing and analyzing schedules and understands their impact on the overall financials. 

Identifying problem areas when looking at information, seeing patterns, trends, or missing pieces, and identifies the similarities. Questions inconsistencies in financial data and makes recommendations to resolve. 

Identifying improvements and enhancements, documenting and recommending appropriate course of action, and assists with implementing new processes. 

Supporting and provides guidance to other functional areas, helps with questions, and assists them with solutions. 

Performing Ad hoc analysis as needed. 

Requirements:

Possess well-developed analytical and modelling skills

Be a self-starter with a can-do mentality and a quick learner in a complex and demanding environment

Have a keen eye for detail without losing sight of the bigger picture

Demonstrate knowledge of financial technical accounting standards and revenue accounting techniques

Possess competent knowledge of finance life cycles and processes

Demonstrate commercial and organizational awareness

Experience in and knowledge of financial and management accounting processes and systems
