Job Description

This role is responsible for the preparation of statutory financial statements and supporting analysis for both internal and external purposes. The position requires the ability to interpret technical accounting pronouncements and make informed recommendations.

Responsibilities

Prepare monthly statutory financial statements and analyses, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the inter-company pooling agreement and its operations.Develop statutory quarterly and annual statements along with supplemental filings such as IEE's and Combined Annual Statement.Compile statutory audit reports and assist independent auditors as needed.Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations in support of the monthly close process.Assist in the assessment of risks and internal controls over financial reporting, ensuring alignment with the company's internal control framework.Stay updated with current developments in statutory accounting and the insurance industry, researching technical accounting issues and documenting recommendations in white paper format.Undertake other duties as assigned by the Manager, Director, or CFO.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience.Four to six years of work experience in insurance accounting.

The role offers a hybrid work environment, typically requiring in-office attendance four days a week, with one day working remotely, usually on Fridays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Des Moines, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.87 - $50.48/hr.
