FIRA International Ltd, part of the Element Group, has an opportunity for a Senior Ergonomist who will enjoy working in a close-knit team at FIRA International, located 20 minutes from central London by train. 

 

You will support the Head of Ergonomics to deliver project work, help to lead and deliver research projects, develop customer relationships and new revenue streams using user human centred design expertise. Bring skills to the ergonomics team to complement existing team members and diversify the consultancy offering at FIRA International. Perform an outward facing role to raise profile of the expertise available at FIRA International.  Contribute to a culture of curiosity and continuous process improvement within the team and in standards committees.

 

Responsibilities Contribute to the delivery of the Ergonomics team’s strategy and objectives.Develop, support and lead research projects independently and with other members of the ergonomics team. Observation, interviews and completion of questionnaires during user trials.Assessing comfort and fit using pressure mapping and spinal tracing methods.Evaluating furniture against UK and European dimensional and ergonomic standards.Discussion with furniture designers.Visiting clients’ workplaces and exhibitions.Summarising results, writing reports and presenting findings.Reviewing and critiquing a range of products such as seating for a range of uses, computer workstations and accessories, mattresses, items for children and aids for elderly people.Manage product comparison projects in line with established procedures and test programmes. Undertake product risk assessments. Undertake DSE risk assessments. Skills / Qualifications Applicants should have a degree in ergonomics or design and have a keen interest in usability.Applicants should have relevant work experience to the role.Applicants are expected to have good communication and interpersonal skills and to be able to work efficiently, independently and to a deadline. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite is essential. Proficiency in CAD software and/or design software (e.g. adobe illustrator or photoshop) is a bonus.Demonstrate commercial awareness.Demonstrate initiativeDemonstrate on time project completionProblem-solving and analytical skills

Team Responsibilities

Help to supervise and provide guidance to junior members of the Ergonomics team.Develop client base and new revenue streams – in particular by providing ergonomics and user centred design expertise to customers during product design.Demonstrate health and safety competency & leadershipDemonstrate customer careContribute to the day to day running of the department including onboarding new customers, liaising with customers, estimating project costs, contract development and invoicing.

Customer Service

Deliver excellent customer experience (for both external and/or internal customers) on a daily basis.Help to ensure that the team's revenue and service targets are met.Work with the business development team to build strong relationships with existing and new customers for new business development opportunities
