Job DescriptionAECOM's Environment team is actively seeking Senior Environmental Planners with experience in delivery of projects, both pre- and post-award phases and models such as Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, Construction Manager General Contractor, etc. Demonstrated experience obtaining approvals and consulting regulatory agencies on requirements and permitting for water, transit and transportation infrastructure projects is required along with developing, implementing and managing Environmental Management Systems. The successful candidate should demonstrate solid technical competency, a high level of skill to analyze and solve complex problems planning and scheduling, budgeting, change and claims management, project progress, and cost estimating. The candidate must be highly motivated and accountable, work collaboratively with other team members, and be an effective communicator. Organizational skills and an ability to work well on multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment are essential qualities.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with internal technical specialists and engineers to facilitate work planning activities, ensuring the team is prepared to execute and deliver environmental components of transit, highway, bridge, tunnel, and multimodal transportation infrastructure projects.Support the development and management of environmental scope of work and fee agreements with contractors, subconsultants, and project management teams.Coordinate environmental scope for projects, providing guidance to others while adhering to company and project policies, and liaising with clients and stakeholders.Review and provide input on legal, regulatory, and commercial matters relevant to transportation infrastructure projects.Contribute to the drafting of environmental contractual obligations including generation of project-specific environmental documentation and compliance requirements.Support project managers in leading EAs and environmental due diligence programs for various clients and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.Participate in AECOM technical practice groups and support business development efforts, including proposal writing and participation in industry associations.QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management/Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Urban and Regional Planning or related field.6 Years experience in delivery of projects, both pre- and post-award phases and models such as Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, Construction Manager General Contractor, etc.Experience with the Transit and Rail Project Assessment Process, Ontario Environmental Assessment (EA) Act, Municipal Class EAs, and other legislation related to the position (e.g. Fisheries Act, Endangered Species Act, Species at Risk Act, Navigation Protection Act, Environmental Protection Act and their regulations).Excellent communication, engaging design managers, discipline leads and contractors and negotiating with regulatory agencies to secure project approvals.Working knowledge of EMS standards (e.g. ISO 14001:2015).Class G driver’s license.Preferred Qualifications:
10 Years experience in delivery of projects, both pre- and post-award phases and models such as Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, Construction Manager General Contractor, etc.Full or Provisional membership in a professional body (e.g. Registered Professional Planner (RPP and MCIP); Canadian Environmental Professional (EP); or Project Management Professional (PMP).Bilingual (English and French) an asset.Additional InformationAbout AECOM
