• Reports to the Biodiversity and Environment Manager
Job Dimension
• Regulatory and IFC requirements associated with Project changes mean execution of additional studies, update of management plans and other activities.
• Ongoing studies also to be maintained (PCS Program). Current list of approximately 60+ studies executed/completed or ongoing. Consultant-produced documents developed/reviewed since May 2022: 170+

Activities
1. Operators contact person to manage updates to the Project EIS for both PNG Regulators and ESDD / IFC requirements.
• Manages Independent Peer Review (IPR) components to aid validation of the EIS and subsequent award of the Project Level 3 Environment Permit.
2. Other Environment related studies
• Is responsible for the delivery of environmental studies in compliance with relevant standards. e.g.:
writing scopes of work
reviewing proposals from technical and budgetary perspectives and managing the call for tender (or direct award if relevant)
budget management
General project management of up to 5 environmental/social consulting companies
Document review coordination
Ensures close coordination with HQ, Affiliate and Project team departments to ensure all needs for environmental studies are addressed.
3. Management Plans, Monitoring and Evaluation
• Assists in the development, update and maintenance of Project/Affiliate’s Environmental Management System.
• Is responsible for maintaining the Project’s Environmental and Social Commitments and Actions Register.
• Provides input and guidance for establishment/implementation of the selected Environmental Database Software.
4. Other
• Understand and or be involved with the relationship with PNG authorities (CEPA and DPE) and other stakeholders towards the validation of the different studies required.
• Manages / mentors local PNG staff and or personnel
• Assists with Environmental Operations issues for site-based staff.

• E&P in Papua New Guinea is of strategic importance business and operations, in a sensitive and difficult environment with permanent challenges, given project, country, security and partnership context.
• High challenges in terms of Communities, Social & Economic development, Biodiversity and Environment.
Accountabilities
The Senior Environmental Advisor will ensure the operator conducts all relevant environmental studies that are required under PNG legislation, Operator standards, and IFC performance standards. In addition, they will provide sound and practical advice to the Environmental Manager, affiliate departments and other stakeholders during pre FEED/FEED to identify risks, gaps and propose solutions to problems.
Required Qualifications/Experience
• Masters Degree in Environmental Science or equivalent.
• A strong expertise in the Environmental discipline: 10+ years’ experience including international Oil & Gas experience.
• High level of interpersonal and communications skills.
• High level of reporting skills and technical knowledge.
• Excellent writing skills and a strong command of the English language.
