POSITION OVERVIEW\n

A seasoned Senior Enterprise Architect providing expert support to NATO's Requirements and Architecture Management Office through the analysis, modeling, and integration of capability architectures at the enterprise level. This role focuses on identifying architectural gaps, overlaps, and dependencies across capabilities and programs, while producing NATO Architecture Framework (NAF) perspectives that inform capability design, requirement definition, and portfolio management. The architect supports the full lifecycle of requirement development-from elicitation to traceability-across operational, system, and interoperability layers, ensuring alignment with regulatory frameworks and strategic goals. Experienced in guiding P3M planning, maintaining architecture repositories with version control, and mentoring requirement managers on best practices. The role also contributes to the development of concepts of operation, DOTMLPFI synchronization, and actionable recommendations for capability development. Through collaboration with NATO entities, national organizations, Centres of Excellence, and academia, this position plays a key role in advancing architectural maturity and supporting organizational learning across the capability lifecycle.\n

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nPerform analysis of existing capability architectures and their modelling at enterprise level, including identification of gaps, overlaps, and dependencies among capabilities and related programmes. \nPerform modelling, architecture and design activities of new capabilities to ensure completeness, consistency and clarity of requirements related work. \nProduce relevant NATO Architecture Framework (NAF) perspectives in support to capability design and requirement definition as well as to enterprise and portfolio management. \nSupport the elicitation, capture, development, analysis, evaluation and traceability of capability requirements and identification of dependencies from other capabilities and\/or regulatory requirements. \nSupport the elicitation, capture, development, analysis, evaluation and traceability of higher and lower-level requirements (such as capability targets, operational requirements, system specifications, interoperability requirements, etc.). \nSupport P3M planning activities to ensure that the dependencies between architecture and the other elements of the plans are understood and taken into consideration. \nMaintain the architectural artefacts in their repositories ensuring version and configuration control. \nProvide technical guidance and mentoring in the area of architecture to requirements managers. \nSupport the development, analysis and review of concepts of operation, courses of action and alternatives. \nCoordinate DOTMLPFI development and implementation synchronization; support the development of recommended courses of action to resolve issues relating capability development. \nOrganise and participate to workshops, seminars, conferences and meetings in support of the activities above. \nCollaborate with National and international military and civilian organizations, including Centres of Excellence and academia, in support of the activities above. \nIdentify Lessons and contribute to their Learning within the organization. \nSupport to other requirements management activities across the capability lifecycle.\nSupport to change and configuration management of requirements across the lifecycle. \nSupport the coordination of architecture related products with Management and Governance. \nSupport the Branch Head CR and travel to meetings and conferences both within and outside NATO's boundaries for up to 30 days per year. \nPerform additional tasks as required by the COTR related to the labour category.\n\n

Required Qualifications:\n\nAt least five (5) years in the last ten (10) of demonstrable experience with hand on development of business, application, and technology architectures, using professional modelling tools (e.g. Sparx, ARIS, BizzDesign), in accordance with TOGAF or comparable architectural frameworks (e.g. Zachman, DoDAF, UAF). \nOne or more certifications in recognised Enterprise Architecture methodologies and frameworks like TOGAF, Zachman, DoDAF, UAF or similar along with proficiency in ArchiMate notation. \nDemonstrable ability to present complex architectures in an easy understandable and accessible way to non-technical audiences, from end users to senior decision makers and approval boards.\n\n
