Job Description

The Senior Engineer is a senior technical resource and delivers discipline involvement in projects and ensures effective delivery input of others. Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations, drawings and reports etc. The role includes design development, design review, supervision, coordination and design documentation. Guides junior engineers and independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete design works. The appointed candidate will be based in either Cape Town or Centurion, South Africa.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake:

Hydraulic modeling analysisSurge Analysis, Transient wave analysisHydraulic modelling and design of Bulk infrastructure and reticulation systems, Pumpstation and reservoir designsPreparation of project specifications, bill of quantities and tender documentationWater and sewer master planning and flood risk assessmentsMentoring junior engineers


Minimum requirements

Eight to twelve years' experience in a similar role - essentialExperience in Master Planning studies, hydraulic analysis and design of bulk water and sewage infrastructure - advantageousExperience in the design of water demand management and design of water and sewage reticulation systems, reservoirs, pumpstations – advantageousKnowledge of detailed water supply and sewage drainage design and multi-disciplinary interfaces - advantageous.Experience in the use of surge analysis and associated design software technology applications (e.g. Bentley Hammer, waterGems, SewerGEMS, InfoWorks, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS etc.) - highly advantageousStrong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or equivalent
• Master's degree or equivalent, would be an advantage
• PrEng registration
