2. POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing engineering and technical support to maintenance functions for mechanical process of belt conveyor system, port and yard machines and other operational equipment maintenance to guarantee their availability and reliability is in line with the needs of the production by practicing Vale’s normative standard’s requirement and VPS (Vale Production System) guidelines.

3. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
3.1
Responsible for analysis of critical failures of port equipment, aiming to identify the root cause and propose long term action to avoid the recurrence of those failures.
3.2
Provide technical support to the maintenance team, based on Vale’s normative standards, international and engineering best practices.
3.3
Develop engineering calculation, maintenance strategies using appropriate software to support technical decisions.
3.4
Responsible for the elaboration of scope of work (SOW) for asset maintenance, modification and engage with vendors as required for technical discussions, validation and acceptance scope of work (SOW)
3.6
Responsible for search and implementation new technologies focused on risk reduction, performance improvement and cost reduction.
3.7
Responsible for support the budget by cost benchmarking technical studies.
3.8
Act as PMO (project management office) for complex engineering solution implementation.

Reports to Head of Engineering.
4.0
Assist maintenance and operation functions in managing and implementation of Vale Production System (VPS) and compliance to VPS maturity by adherence to related VPS elements.
4.1
Interface with technical services and engineering team from other location in creating and supporting VMM Master Plan and Strategic Guidelines requirements.
4.2
Assist analysis of KPI (Key Performance Indicators) to ensure KPI gaps are duly addressed from technical and engineering perspective.
4.3
Actively participate in the budgetary cycle and in the strategic planning, defining premises from the key performance indicators and specific consumption.
4.4
Participate and provide feedback during review of Maintenance Plans, RCM and reliability processes.
4.5 Promote benchmarking studies and elaborate plans to reach world class maintenance quality and
provide maintenance and engineering leadership for improvement project resulting in overall safety and
reliability of VMM.
4.6 Participate in maintenance actions and projects that produce an impact on the company's productive
process seeking its expansion and improvement in the direct operation of the involved areas, aiming to
maximize the company's competitiveness and minimize operational risks.
4.7 Assure the maintenance of the know-how through coordination of the elaboration and update of the
operational procedures, instructions, and standards.
4.8 Contribute to detection, report, and elimination of abnormalities in the maintenance and operational
processes through analysis of the process variables.
4.9 Responsible to conduct periodic qualitative and quantitative assessment on risk, maintenance and
operational activities.
4.10 Provide technical leadership and training to local team in planning, understanding, execution, inspection,
and quality control of matters related to maintenance and operation activities.
4.11 Responsible for issuance of periodic technical reports of VMM assets indicating good practices and area
for improvement with actions to ensure strategic goals for VMM are met.
4.12 Ensure compliance to all relevant Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental management policies,
procedures and controls across the department to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance,
delivery of high-quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.

4. QUALIFICATIONS
4.1 Experience: 7 - 10 years of experience in maintenance and engineering of port equipment or in heavy
industries. Hands-on troubleshooting experience is as strong advantage.
4.2 Education: bachelor’s degree, master degree or Professional Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
4.3 Knowledge and experience in reliability engineering and industrial engineering tools and software.
4.4 Knowledge on bulk material handling equipment like conveyor belts, stackers – reclaimers, ship
unloaders/loaders will be an added advantage.
4.5 Knowledge in SAP Maintenance management module.
4.6 Knowledge in Predictive maintenance strategy and plan creation using SAP maintenance module.
4.7 Certification, knowledge and implementation experience of lean manufacturing tools i.e., 6 sigma,
FMDS, Kaizen, TPM are added advantage
