The CNC Engineer will leverage a strong blend of technical expertise, programming proficiency, and interpretation of detailed drawings to ensure the creation of precise and efficient CNC programs for manufacturing processes. This role plays a pivotal part in driving operational success by supporting the engineering team to meet or exceed key product metrics, such as cost efficiency, process performance, and time-to-market. The CNC Engineer will also serve as a mentor to the team, sharing knowledge and promoting best practices in the areas of Turning, Swiss Turning, and Milling CNC processes. Success in this role will be measured by the ability to enhance productivity, optimize manufacturing workflows, and achieve continuous improvement across CNC processes.
What you will do
CNC Programming & Setup: Develop, optimize, and implement CNC programs for Turning, Swiss Turning, and Milling processes. Set up CNC machines, including configuring tools, fixtures, gauging, and preparing work instructions to ensure production efficiency and accuracy.Project Drawing Interpretation: Analyze project drawings to determine part-specific requirements, ensuring that CNC programs align with design specifications and project goals.Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate closely with engineering teams across departments to ensure seamless alignment of CNC programs with overall project requirements.Setup Sheet Definition & Release: Define and release setup sheets for production, ensuring all required information is clearly documented and communicated for smooth production processes.User-Specific Requirements & Procurement: Define machine specifications and user-specific requirements at the procurement stage, and conduct technical assessments of potential vendors.Equipment Validation & Testing: Lead equipment validation efforts, including conducting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) at both thesupplier site and plant after delivery. Ensure successful on-site qualification and testing execution.Technical Leadership & Process Capability Studies: Provide technical leadership to ensure that required Gauge R&R and Capability Studies (Cp, Cpk) are conducted on time. Ensure proper execution of Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and process capability studies.Test Runs & Production Readiness: Conduct test runs prior to full-scale production to verify that CNC machines produce outputs in accordance with design specifications and quality standards.Consumables & Production Continuity: Define the consumables required for production and determine the frequency of their use to ensure continuous production during early-stage product validation and ramp-up.Technology Expertise: Maintain and apply advanced technical knowledge of CNC machines, cutting tooling, and fixture development. Ensure the robustness of equipment in terms of capability, ergonomics, market trends, and lifecycle.Quality & Precision Assurance: Ensure precision and high-quality standards are consistently maintained throughout the manufacturing process.Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Identify and resolve issues related to CNC machinery during production, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal machine performance. What you must have
Proven Experience: Extensive hands-on experience with CNC program design, preparation, testing, and analysis for both milling and turning machines, particularly from leading global manufacturers.CNC Programming Expertise: Strong practical knowledge of CNC programming, with the ability to create, optimize, and troubleshoot complex CNC programs for turning, milling, and other machining processes.Manufacturing Process Knowledge: In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes, particularly metal machining, turning, milling, and associated finishing processes. Solid background in product/process design and engineering materials.Excellent Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate ideas and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, production, and design functions.Innovative Problem Solver: Demonstrated ability to think innovatively and apply creative solutions to challenges in CNC engineering and manufacturing.Statistical & Validation Expertise: Good understanding and practical experience with statistical tools, validation, and verification techniques to ensure product and process quality.Software Proficiency: Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software such as SAP, along with familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).Six Sigma Certification (Preferred but not required): Green or Black Belt Six Sigma certification is highly desirable, demonstrating proficiency in process improvement and quality management techniques.Qualifications
