Senior Engineer – Electrical Primary
**TECHNICAL** + Knows how to perform complex engineering analyses and develop complex deliverables within discipline + Applies standard engineering work planning, scheduling, and cost estimating + Understands standard contract requirements and scope as they relate to discipline work + Knows technical issues related to discipline and how to discuss with third parties (customer, suppliers, and regulators) + Knows how to coordinate technical issues within discipline, with other disciplines, and with engineering staff + Understands roles played by other departments on projects + Familiar with methods of procurement, including bid and evaluation process + Knows electrical equipment and material + Knowledgeable in the overall work requirements outside of the discipline. + Experienced with leading a group of engineers and/or designers within the discipline + In-depth knowledge of specific standards + Familiar with all WSP design guides and standards relevant to discipline + Understands industry Norms and procedures + Capable of analyzing and understanding Client’s requirements and standards. + Ability to revise existing standards + Understands EDP’s (Engineering Design Procedure) and their application on projects **Key Competencies / Skills** + Reviews and leads the production of higher-tier Drawings, Reports and Calculations for all primary engineering tasks/deliverables + Reviews Single Line diagrams for the HV Power system + Reviews specifications/data sheets for main power electrical equipment in the substations (AIS, GIS & hybrid) + Performs/Reviews Earthing System calculation using CEDEX software Pkg. + Performs/Reviews Lightning Protection calculation using SES Shield software Pkg. + Reviews and provide guidance related to the EMC and its effects on substations various equipment + Capability to review and coordinates work with BIM 3D Modelers + Reviews different substation layouts + Performs/Reviews Insulation Coordination, Partial Discharge Corona studies + Performs/Reviews AIS Bus Bar sizing Calculations taking into consideration Ampacity, Short Circuit Forces, Thermal effect of Short Circuit + Knowledgeable with the main concepts of OHL (Sag and Tension, sizing, components used for design, surge arresters, civil aspects…etc.) + Leads technical discussions with customer and supplier + Reviews and coordinates documents from other disciplines, customer and outside agencies + Coordinates reviews with other disciplines and departments + Prepares and presents reports for formal studies + Capability of activities management and milestones based on scope of work description + Capability of tracking the schedule of activities + Capability of presenting the results to different parties and highlighting the key issues to the Client/WSP + Large project field assignment **Desired Skills** + Keep the WSP Lead Engineer, Project Manager regularly informed of technical activities, staffing, budgets and schedules + Explain reasons for actions taken to the work group + Be approachable to members of the team + Maintain harmony and a productive work atmosphere by being open about work activities and project status + Ability to negotiate effectively with internal and external clients + Has competence and confidence to make technical presentations + Lead the work effort by defining the tasks and participating in their execution + Support the work with the appropriate staff and tools to complete the task + Committed to supporting the group, superiors, subordinates, and colleagues professionally and personally + Deliver superior quality designs and deliverables that meet the technical, schedule and budget requirements + Lead subordinates in the continuous improvement in design and project execution + Continuously seeks new efficient ways to perform tasks and to deliver quality work + Has a strong desire to develop new technical capability + Participate in activities to stay abreast of the latest technology + Continuously seeks new and efficient ways to perform tasks and to deliver high quality work + Promotes team behaviour by keeping all informed about the technical and people developments in the work group + Exhibit facilitation skills for problem solving by enlisting the support of the entire group + Lead and coach design teams + Train and develop new team in new processes and procedures + Improves teamwork by sharing information and knowledge without reservation + Assigns and delegates tasks to qualified persons + Makes timely decisions after obtaining input from others to maintain team progress + Recognizes contributions from others + Live the Leadership Covenants + Recognized degree in engineering or technical field from an accredited college or university and specialized courses in Electrical discipline plus applicable practical work experience. Minimum, Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering + 8 to 14 years of experience in Electrical Engineering
