New Porgera Limited (NPL) is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea and owns the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province. The Porgera Gold Mine will employ nearly 3,000 Papua New Guineans at full production, and over the last 30 years of life of the mine it has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea’s total annual exports

NPL is currently seeking a qualified and experienced individual to join the Capital & Projects team as a Senior Engineer – Electrical – Capital Projects (235298) 

 About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent –Engineering Projects, the Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and commissioning of electrical systems across a wide range of Capital and Projects Department. This role is essential to ensuring reliable, safe, and cost-effective electrical infrastructure and long-term development strategy. The successful candidate is required to ensure there is always an electrical engineer on site, to prevent the hold up of projects due to lack of electrical progress. 

In this role, you will.

Developing, reviewing, updating, modifying, and approving electrical design. Deliver projects to completion in a timely and effective manner Analyzing existing processes and procedures and initiating improvement with stakeholders. Through the use of procedures to get the job done, ensure that improvements to the procedures are captured and changes are made to control documents by custodian Ensure effective communication with delegate prior to departure from site Utilize their engineering skills and knowledge to identify and investigate opportunities on site to use energy more efficiently Develop project scopes of work and manage these projects through to successful completion in a timely manner Manage and communicate with Contractors performing the work and liaise with other stakeholders and other engineers to ensure projects are completed to specifications. Contribute to other engineering duties that may arise as part of the day-to-day operations  Provide technical support in the preparation and execution phase of all projects   Updating and maintaining project administration folders and upholding document control procedures Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation plans while maintaining and improving existing engineering processes Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with NPL Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health rules and procedures Assist with Feasibility and Prefeasibility studies  Conduct condition assessments 

NPL operates in a complex environment that requires the successful applicant to be a self-starter, with strong ability in delivery to support the mines successful operation whilst coordinating the efforts of your team members and third-party contractors to complete projects according to plan in a timely and safe manner. 

About You

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences:

A bachelor-degree in Electrical Engineering with strong and extensive technical/engineering design background  Previous Design experience is essential. Candidates with no design experience shall not be considered A minimum of 6 years of Electrical design experience Must have IEPNG registration (or eligible)  Must have detailed knowledge of Australian & PNG and electrical standards Experience in successfully managing multiple engineering projects concurrently  Experience in AutoCAD is required Experience in Engineering Project Management and project process flows
