As a senior engineer, you will collaborate with platform engineering teams to plan, deliver, and operate solutions, while shaping technology strategy and roadmaps for new and existing capabilities. All work aligns with Starbucks’ guiding principles. **_As a senior engineer, cloud platform engineering, you will…_** • Communicate highly complex ideas and concepts to non-technical peers and customers • Establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with business and technology partners • Support the development team and perform activities to resolve developer issues in a timely and accurate fashion • Engineer build and release processes • Effectively manage and partner with technology vendors to deliver against business objectives • Conduct research and makes recommendations on standards, products, and services • Ensure application and infrastructure architectural solutions are stable, secure, and compliant with company standards and practices • Implement all technologies in accordance with Information Security's guiding principles for highly sensitive data • Provide high-availability operational support and automate solutions across the environment • Implement deep telemetry capabilities to provide ongoing success and performance metrics • Implement service monitoring across all platforms to ensure continuous availability and operational continuity of critical systems • Uphold company policies, and legal/regulatory requirements, such as PCI • Implement and maintains system configurations and baselines to support secure application development software control best practices and standards **_We’d love to hear from people with:_** • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. • 4–8 years of professional software development experience. • 5+ years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). • Proficiency in languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, Go, Perl, or Ruby. • Experience with large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures. • Ability to debug, optimize, and automate tasks. • Knowledge of regulatory requirements (SOX, PCI, HIPAA). • Experience managing high-capacity, mission-critical environments. • Strong database knowledge and networking proficiency (TCP/IP, DNS, routing). • Experience supporting 24x7 production environments. _Technical Proficiency_ • Experience in platform engineering and product development teams. • Strong understanding of application architecture, infrastructure, and security. • Ability to quickly learn cloud based technologies (e.g., managed data services, eventing, secrets management). • Expertise in AWS or Azure cloud computing concepts. • Hands-on coding and code review skills (Golang preferred). • Knowledge of: + System architecture and design + Data storage (Postgres, DynamoDB, Cassandra) + Platform as a Service + Monitoring, auditing, and operations • Experience with orchestration/configuration management and CI/CD tools (Docker/Kubernetes, AWS CodeBuild/CodePipeline, ArgoCD, Terraform, Datadog). • Proficient in Linux containers, cloud networking, and incident troubleshooting. _Domain Proficiency_ • Deep understanding of cloud platforms and application capabilities, APIs, and process flows. • Awareness of business context and functional aspects of solutions. • Contribute to platform strategy, operational processes, and security frameworks. • Develop and deploy solutions using Agile and continuous delivery practices. _Interpersonal Skills_ • Ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams. • Strong communication skills for technical and business audiences. • Skilled in negotiation, strategic planning, and decision-making. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
