This role focuses on developing energy modelling tools and practices for building portfolio modelling. The ideal candidate will drive strategic innovation, contribute to complex projects, and support a diverse team.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Delivery:
Provide high-level oversight on complex energy modelling projects across various scales
Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality energy modelling services globally
Tool Development:
Lead the design and development of a proprietary energy modelling tool
Integrate OpenStudio and EnergyPlus capabilities into the tool
Ensure the tool's scalability from small to large-scale energy models
Technical Expertise:
Guide the team in utilizing OpenStudio and EnergyPlus effectively
Oversee the implementation of advanced features such as parametric analysis, optimization, and uncertainty quantification
Ensure best practices in software development, version control, and data management
Team Management and Development
Collaborate with a diverse team of energy modelers and software developers at all experience levels
Requirements:
5-10 years experience in software development and building energy modelling
Advanced degree in Building Science, Software Development or related field
Extensive experience with OpenStudio and EnergyPlus, including: 5+ years working with OpenStudio SDK 5+ years developing custom measures and workflows
3+ years experience with OpenStudio server for large-scale simulations
Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Deep understanding of building physics and energy systems
Preferred:
Strong programming skills with: 5+ years experience in Python 3+ years experience in Ruby 3+ years experience in C++
Proven track record in developing and leading large-scale energy modelling projects
Experience with version control systems and collaborative development platforms
Familiarity with data visualization tools
Experience with cloud computing platforms
Relevant certifications (LEED AP, BEMP, etc.)
