Location/Division Specific Information

We are building a new Ion Chromatography & Sample Prep (ICSP) business unit within the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometer Division (CMD) in Brno. To strengthen our R&D team, we are hiring a Senior Design Engineer who will focus on board-level, mixed-signal hardware design for next-generation chromatography instruments.

A Day in the Life:Design and develop mixed-signal electronic boards (microcontrollers, memory, communication protocols, Ethernet).Work with PCB design tools (Altium preferred) to create schematics and layouts.Work closely with R&D, product development, quality, and procurement to mitigate risk in our PCBA supply base.Collaborate with firmware, software, and mechanical engineers across global teams (Brno, Sunnyvale, Germany, India).Perform hands-on lab work including prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting.Coordinate technical workManage your own set of projects.Identify risk components and invent and provide alternate component or design solutions.Primary focus will be on PCBA's, with future opportunities in electromechanical components, assemblies, and OEM assemblies.Travel will be up to 20% globally.

ExperienceProficiency in PCBA CAD build software such as Altium or equivalent.Experience with 32-bit microcontrollers, DSPs, ADCs, DACs, and more.Demonstrated history of managing vendors and contract manufacturers.Value engineering, process development, DFM/DFA/DFX experience.Premier electromechanical providers and contract manufacturers.Experience with devices regulated by agencies like CSA, UL, ISO 13485.Bachelor's degree or 5+ years equivalent experience in Electrical, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or Physics, or MS with proven experience in product development, development, and manufacturing.

Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesPCBA layout and EMC mitigation.Ability to build cost estimate models for sourced materials.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to self-manage projects.Significant expertise with building tools.Proficiency in analog and digital circuitry development.Expertise in communication protocols.Sophisticated technical writing skills.Experience with scientific instrumentation is preferred.
