Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to be based in Hunt Valley, MD. This position will design low voltage (480 V and below) electrical power systems for commercial, government, and transportation facilities including office tenant space, utilities, and support facilities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Prepare detailed calculations, drawings, technical specifications, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, cost estimates, detailed analyses and other materials suitable for construction purposesDevelop electrical power distribution and lighting design concepts with architects, engineers and clientsPrepare specifications, contract documents, and prepare engineering progress reportsEnsure design conforms with all applicable codes and client standardsReview shop drawings for conformity to contract documents, codes and standardsWill conduct construction site electrical inspections 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related +6 years of demonstrated equivalency of related experience in buildings and facilities engineering or similar and specific experience in the lighting design and power distribution or similar related experience.Professional Engineer (PE) registration in State of Maryland, or ability to obtain by comity/reciprocity.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with design low voltage (480 V and below) electrical power systems for commercial, government and transportation facilities including office tenant space, utilities and support facilities. This includes preparation of electrical system load analysis, short circuit analysis, arc flash studies, etc.Switchgear, motor control center and medium voltage design experienceWorking knowledge of electrical system analysis tools (E-TAP, SKM, or Paladin, etc.)Experience with the design of lighting and lighting control systems for commercial, government and industrial facilities in accordance with energy code requirements (ASHRE 90.1 or IECC) including familiarity with lighting calculations, occupancy control, etc.Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC), ASME and other NFPA codesAirfield and/or AGL experience is helpful, but not requiredAutoCAD and/or Revit experience is helpful, but not requiredMicrostation or Civil 3D experience is helpful, but not requiredAbility to execute complete, accurate and coordinated project design assignments on time and within budgetUnderstands overall project constraints including design/construction budget limitations and schedule requirementsAbility to interact and communicate effectively with team members, other disciplines and clientsAbility to lead junior electrical team membersAbility to perform QA/QC review, sign and stamp electrical drawings preferredEffective written and verbal English communication skills
