Join Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Senior Director of Program Management in a role that directly impacts our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. You'll guide strategic portfolios and programs across multiple business units, fostering innovation and operational excellence. This leadership position oversees complex, cross-functional initiatives from concept to completion, ensuring successful delivery of critical business objectives.

The ImmunoDiagnostics Division (IDD) Program Management Office (PMO) provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure successful delivery of complex product development and business-critical programs across the division. The PMO drives disciplined execution and cross-functional alignment, enabling predictable outcomes and high-quality innovations for our customers. The mission is to accelerate IDD innovation and operational excellence by providing governance, portfolio oversight, and world-class project execution that improves time-to-market, product quality, and alignment with divisional strategy.
This role is fully office-based (4 days pw office, 1 day work from home) at our Uppsala, Sweden site. Some international travel may be required – up to 20% of working time, including overnight stays.
What will you do?
Lead a portfolio of strategic, cross-functional programs that accelerate our aspiration to enable patients around the world to get the right diagnosis for their allergic and autoimmune diseasesBuild and oversee a high-performing project management organization, driving consistent execution excellence across complex portfolios spanning R&D, Marketing, MSA, Operations, Quality/Regulatory, and Commercial functionsProvide enterprise visibility, governance, and leadership to ensure program success in alignment with Thermo Fisher’s strategic priorities and PPI (Practical Process Improvement) culture
Who we are looking for:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Business, or related field; advanced degree (MS, MBA, PhD) preferredMultiple years of progressive experience in project and program management within life sciences, medical devices, biotech, diagnostics, or related industriesProven experience leading cross-functional global teams and delivering complex programs within regulated environmentsStrong familiarity with Thermo Fisher–typical workflows such as product lifecycle management (PLM), NPI processes, design control, and operational excellence programsStrategic planning and portfolio prioritization expertiseStrong understanding of R&D-to-commercialization pathways for diagnostic assays, instruments, consumables, software, or servicesExceptional communication and executive influencing capabilityDeep proficiency in project management tools, stage-gate frameworks, and portfolio analytics systemsAbility to navigate a complex global matrix organization and lead through ambiguityWillingness to travel up to 20% of working timeFluency in English; additional languages valuableWhat’s in it for you:
