Job DescriptionAllied Universal® is hiring a Senior Director of Human Resources. The Senior Director, Human Resources is responsible for providing operational support and management of Human Resources functional activities including succession planning, workforce stabilization, compliance, compensation, benefits, team relations, team member development and employee communications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as a strategic business partner with Presidents, Regional Vice Presidents, and branch staff by understanding their unique client and business objectives, and providing proactive counsel, recommendations, and support to meet their needs. Build strong relationships with all management, understand client expectations and site-specific challenges, and provide advice and solutions to meet business needs while ensuring legal compliance and consistent application of company policies.Create, implement, and monitor the application of all employee processes to ensure compliance with labor laws, state and federal regulations, and sound business practices; conducting training sessions with managers and supervisors, and identify and communicate the need for new/revised policies based on changing business needs and/or legal requirements.Provide technical Human Resources support to branch, field, and sales staff on day-to-day employee and labor relations issues; responsible for advising on proper techniques, forms/documentation, and actions to ensure compliance, lawful conduct, and consistent application of practices, while meeting business/client objectives.Where applicable, ensure Collective Bargaining Agreement compliance, fulfillment of technical requirements, and awareness of Company philosophies regarding union relations; build and maintain strong relationships with union representatives to minimize labor relations issues, conduct supervisor/manager training to strengthen consistent application of policies and procedures, and manage all grievances in a timely and effective manner.Conduct (or lead the activities of) all investigations into discrimination, harassment, wage/hour, or other labor law complaints, ensuring proper documentation, interviewing procedures, and follow up activities are taken. Under the guidance and oversight of the Vice President of Human Resources, act as a representative in legal actions against the company for employment lawsuits.Responsible for various Human Resource projects, either as assigned or self-initiated, including ongoing opportunities for automation, efficiency, accuracy, cost-reduction, and/or improved legal compliance, actively participate in annual strategic planning process to identify such projects, then create and execute plans to ensure on-time completion of deliverables.Management of Human Resource staff to conduct quarterly field audits of branch Human Resources staff operations, internal auditing procedures, and other processes to ensure company standards and legal requirements are being followed (such as I-9 compliance, HRIS and HR record keeping/maintenance, and other similar processes).Identify training and development needs at branch sites for Operations, Human Resources, and Recruiting personnel and develop the technical skills to ensure proper knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, file maintenance, employee relations administration, termination procedures, and accident reporting/investigations/workers’ compensation procedures.Identify and implement retention strategies to reduce employee turnover and increase internal employee development and skillsParticipate in strategic planning sessions, client meetings and other business development meetings, providing insight into implications of decisions and actions on the Human Resources function, and offering solutions to employee related issues affecting the business.QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):
Must possess one or more of the following:Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Behavior, Business, or a related field with six (6) years of human resources business partner experienceAssociate degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Behavior, Business, or a related field with eight (8) years of human resources business partner experienceHigh School diploma with ten (10) years of human resources business partner experiencePrior work experience with employee relations, development, and engagement as well as policy implementation and interpretationWorking knowledge of employment laws and civil rights legislationAbility to handle complex or sensitive situations with professionalism and confidentialityDemonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlinesHighly proficient and fully functional in all Microsoft Office applications and able to effectively utilize all available office management technologyAble to work independently and be self-directed, but also take direction from all levels of managers within the assigned region, which may result in having to re-prioritize work activities on a regular basisProfessional, articulate, and able to use good independent judgment and discretionProven ability to maintain correspondence, discussions, and materials in strictest confidenceMust have the flexibility and ability to travel periodically/regularly, depending on company needs, with some overnight travelOutstanding verbal and written communication skillsAbility to successfully interact at all levels of the organization, including with clients, while functioning as a team playerPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):
Prior work experience with the use of SAP human resourcesPrior specialized education or experience in human resources and/or employment lawKnowledge of Code of Federal Regulation requirements, Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)Demonstrated ability to facilitate training to include the development of training materials as well as deliveryCertificate in HR Management through a University, Professional Human Resources (PHR) certification or higherPrior Human Resources experience in a service industry businessBENEFITS:
