The Senior Director ensures compliance with Marriott policies and procedures; protects our self-insured privilege via compliance and monitoring of self –insured/administered regulations and/or responsibilities. The Senior Director acts as a liaison between claims department and operations promoting service excellence through education, training, and Service Call Program. The Senior Director follows and upholds the applicable claims sections of Marriott’s Risk Management policies and procedures and leads one of three regional claims offices in North America. In the absence of an Operations Manager, directly manages all the Claims Unit Managers and their technical staff , and administrative support staff. **CANDIDATE PROFILE** **Education and Experience** _Required_ • 10+ years of claims adjusting experience, with at least 5+ years of supervisory and management experience, • Four-year degree from an accredited college/business/technical school Applicable industry licensing • Experience providing strategic oversight and direction in litigation case management and claims adjusting • Strong interpersonal communication and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to interact professionally with customers and business partners. _Preferred_ • Insurance industry designations/certifications • Advanced degree • Operations Manager and/or National Examiner experience **CORE WORK ACTIVITIES** • Develop strategies and provide leadership of the Regional Claims team of 30+ associates to ensure alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices. • Provide visionary leadership for the regional claims function by ensuring compliance with Marriott policies, procedures, and requirements for all casualty lines, steering the team toward innovative solutions, delivering measurable impacts and fostering a high-performance culture. • Drive regional performance by ensuring key metrics are consistently met. Implement targeted initiatives to maintain compliance with Marriott policies, procedures, and industry standards across all casualty lines. Proactively identify opportunities for process optimization and foster a culture of continuous improvement aligned with organizational strategy. • Maintain settlement authority to $500,000 for worker’s compensation and $400,000 for general liability in accordance with policy and check signing authority. • Oversee the preparation of routine and ad hoc operations status reports, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery and provide strategic recommendations based on findings to drive operational improvements. • Review and approve all liability pre-trial reports, benefit payments and reserve adequacy • Monitor and approve on-time benefit, claims, and expense payments; oversee caseload and provide guidance on distribution, management production reports/statistics, litigation rate analysis, reportable file updates, and assess reserve adequacy to ensure accuracy, reasonableness, and timeliness. • Ensure claims are directly managed in a timely and effective manner, using a disposition-oriented approach. • Assist and support the Director of Occupational Health Services (OHS) and regional OHS staff in establishing high quality medical panels and cost containment programs. • Oversee unit Service Call Program and reportable file updates. • Plan, analyze and manage budget and administrative accounting. • Direct office administration to include arrangements with landlord, vendors and/or suppliers where needed. • Keep a suit log and provide suit committee direction on high exposure claims. • Perform aged and layered case reviews as warranted by individual office protocol. • Comply with Marriott Casualty Claims Policy and Procedure Manual requirements. • Effectively utilize the Valley Oaks Claims System (iVOS) to manage all claims electronically. • Represent the company professionally to external industry organizations. • Conduct regular meetings to facilitate education and communication. • Lead recruiting, hiring, coaching, performance reviews, and talent development. • Monitor check/daily transaction register. The salary range for this position is $147,000 to $219,900 annually.
