Senior Director Ambulatory Services

**General Summary**
Provides leadership and oversight of the behavioral health ambulatory service line to ensure effective network wide operations, activities, programming within all the behavioral health ambulatory services. Promotes and ensures behavioral health service line success, through sound operational, financial, and human resource management. This position, along with the behavioral health network leadership team assumes responsibility and accountability for the strategic, clinical, operational, and administrative activities across the full continuum of care in a manner that also ensures organizational success.
**Duties and Responsibilities:**
+ Works collaboratively with physician and clinical leadership to assure effective two-way communication between physicians, APC's, staff, and administration. Actively communicates with the workforce to ensure that they are informed and appropriately involved in operational changes. Foster's growth in the culture to include network and system-wide collaboration.
+ Coordinates with corporate support areas within WellSpan (e.g., Quality and Safety, Regulation and Accreditation, Risk Management, billing) and provides oversight to behavioral health support departments (Managed Care Specialist team and Central Scheduling) to ensure alignment of communication and operations.
+ Working with direct reports, addresses issues related to facilities, equipment, and supplies. Provides leadership and oversight to assess plans for space and capacity constraints and collaborates with finance to complete necessary processes to obtain or improve facilities or space.
+ Oversees disaster preparedness for behavioral health ambulatory service line.
+ Provides leadership to new facility design and renovation projects, using designs that will increase provider efficiency, patient flow, and provide a positive patient experience.
+ Provides overall leadership of ambulatory services within the behavioral health network, with a focus on providing high quality care, excellent patient/family experience and meet all regulatory and accreditation standards.
+ Leads integration of newly acquired practices or services.
+ Measures cost, patient satisfaction and outcomes to guide continual improvement of processes. Develops policies, procedures, and standards, as needed and evaluates areas of opportunity. Tests innovative ideas using Lean methodology principles.
+ Provides outstanding service to all customers, fosters teamwork, and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
+ Participates in the broader WellSpan Philhaven organization strategic planning process, as requested, and takes leadership in developing and implementing plans to achieve strategic goals using Lean methodology, tools, and principles.
+ Hires and supervises Directors and/or Managers and evaluates work performance. Responsible for the direct supervision of Directors and/or Managers and/or other staff with a direct reporting relationship. Responsible for the indirect supervision of staff.
+ In collaboration with behavioral health network leadership, identifies physician/APP staffing needs.
+ Actively participates in the recruitment, onboarding, and orientation of new physicians / APP's.
**Common Expectations:**
+ Responsible for financial performance of assigned areas, including budget, revenue cycle, and expense control. Supports and coaches behavioral health ambulatory services leadership to achieve budget and ensure compliance with regulations, billing and collection policies.
+ Reviews and monitors productivity and financial reports to identify trends and resource concerns, recommending opportunities for improvement.
+ Establishes, leads, and participates in workgroups/ committees as needed. Communicates goals, plans, activities, and progress with operational and clinical leadership across the behavioral health network. Ensures spread of learning and improvement, as appropriate.
+ Applies principles of Lean Daily Management System (LDMS) and continuous performance improvement to optimize practice operations.
+ Effectively communicates to allow information to flow freely to support a well-informed and engaged workforce.
+ Participates in and nurtures broad networks to exchange knowledge and information about learning and change in support of change initiatives.
+ Maintains awareness of trends and developments in healthcare and the community which may impact WellSpan Philhaven and pursues ongoing professional development.
+ Aligns strategic, operational, and budget commitments and actively manages outcomes.
+ Develops and implements policies and procedures in support of ambulatory service line operations.
+ Partners with behavioral health network leaders and system leaders related to execution of business opportunities, reimbursement changes, technology, and collaborates with community agencies, as appropriate.
+ Works to create/assess profit and loss scenarios and develops strategies to improve operations using measurable criteria and standards.
+ Ensures the development of financial goals for designated ambulatory programs and departments.
+ Works collaboratively with clinical nursing leadership to ensure the highest level of clinical operations within ambulatory services.
+ Presents operational updates, as needed, to internal and external stakeholders, outside constituents and other departments within the organization.
+ Ensures the provision of affordable health care services by the acquisition, partnership, utilization, and organization of available resources and the development of improved techniques, practices, and service models.
+ In collaboration with the Behavioral Health Service Line, responsible for establishing the ambulatory service line operational plan for behavioral health. Develops implementation plan and process, communicates with direct reports and peers, and is responsible for tracking progress toward achieving defined outcomes.
+ Effectively uses computer resources for function such as reporting, record keeping, scheduling appointments, statistical analysis, and other related work.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum Education:**
+ Masters Degree Required
**Work Experience:**
+ 7 years leadership required.
+ 5 years in leadership of behavioral health service operations required.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**
+ Strong customer service skills.
+ Demonstrated leadership abilities in program development, fiscal/budget management, and strategic planning.
+ Excellent communication, interpersonal, managerial and computer skills.
+ Knowledge in the principles, theories, and environments that are key factors to behavioral health operations.
+ Knowledge of state, federal and payer regulations related to behavioral health.
+ Advanced analytical skills; mental/visual ability.
