Job Description

We are looking for a leader to join our Risk Management team as a Senior Director, Risk Management. This leader will partner and drive our Risk Management practice and insurance programs reporting to and in partnership with our Vice President of Risk Management.   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Direct the creative and efficient structuring of Public Storage’s corporate insurance program and evolving it with the business’ growth. 

Manage programs through a combination of self-insurance, commercial insurance, captive, and other strategies developed in partnership with broker partners. 

Manage internal exposure data to assist in the preparation of underwriting submissions 

Maintain portfolio-wide Statement of Values and other property risk data  

Manage relationships with multiple 3rd party service providers 

Develop and support renewal strategy meetings with brokers and insurers 

Review marketing results and assisting in analysis, etc. 

Manage and audit all insurance policy documentation, endorsements, etc. for accuracy 

Review and negotiate various contracts and agreements to ensure proper allocation of risk 

Manage and oversight of certificates of insurance for vendor and contractor COIs 

Review all contractual agreements that are referred to Risk Management  

Mitigate the Company’s exposure to risk by formulating, developing, and coordinating claims-related activities on large claims, and resolving claims using various risk transfer techniques 

Identify operational risks and potential risk mitigation opportunities.  

Educate employees by periodically providing in-house training to various groups on important risk management topics and emerging risks 

Support the ongoing and growing needs of the Company as needed with routine and non-routine duties and projects 

Leading, continuing to build, training, and developing the P&C claims management and corporate insurance program teams  

Building and nurturing regular and productive communications and partnerships with other teams to constantly balance various competing interests to pursue collective company goals and ensure alignment around wins, opportunities, expectations, and priorities. 

Providing guidance and technical subject-matter expertise for risk and insurance matters to the organization. 

Led the successful integration and implementation of advanced technology solutions and innovative strategies into workers' compensation systems, enhancing efficiency, accuracy, streamlining processes, improving user experience, and aiding in the enhancement of system performance and reliability 

Overseeing and ensuring department performance to meet evolving goals, initiatives, and key performance indicators. 

Developing direct report(s) to be effective people/team leaders and to meet personal and departmental goals. 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. 

15+ years minimum experience in the commercial insurance space, 

5+ years experience building, leading, mentoring, training, and developing teams. 

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

Strong analytical and data-driven, quantitative skill set. 

Philosophical alignment around optimizing risk financing & management strategies to match company risk profile, appetite, and goals. 

Experience working closely and communicating effectively with a diverse set of stakeholders in an ever-changing, rapid growth environment with tight deadlines. 

Ability to take initiative in a constantly-changing work environment while maintaining flexibility and a collaborative attitude. 

Able to help create, develop and implement process improvement(s). 

Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple tasks. 

Ability to promote the company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners.

Public Storage teammates are expected to work in the office five days each week with the option to take up to three flexible remote days per month.Our office is based in Plano, east of I75 near E. Park Blvd, just North of Historic Downtown Plano.
