As Senior Director of eCommerce Development (Mobile), you will drive engineering delivery and platform architecture for the mobile buy flow, connecting consumer and business experiences across the Spectrum ecosystem. Direct engineering teams to deliver scalable mobile shopping, checkout, and activation platformsSet technical direction and architectural standards for evolving mobile commerce solutionsDevelop engineering managers and tech leads to make strategic decisionsOvercome integration challenges across device catalogs, carrier systems, trade-in workflows, and activation processesModernize platforms with Architecture, optimizing APIs and modular componentsImplement AI-driven tools and customer experiences to advance development and recommendationsConnect technical initiatives to business outcomes, driving customer acquisition and satisfactionShape organizational growth through hiring, standards, and team structure

Working Conditions

Work in an office environment with occasional travel, plus the option to work from home one day each week through Spectrum’s Hybrid Work Policy

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline or equivalent experience

Experience

5+ years managing engineering organizations of 30+ engineers across multiple product teams5+ years at director level or above, managing engineering managers or senior tech leads10+ years delivering large-scale consumer-facing web applications with high availability and performance requirements7+ years designing complex integration architectures including third-party APIs, carrier systems, device catalogs, or multi-system orchestration7+ years driving platform modernization and architectural transformation while maintaining delivery velocity7+ years operating in matrixed organizations with cross-functional products, design, and architecture partners

Skills

Strong architectural judgment across front-end, back-end, and API orchestrationDeep understanding of modern web application architecture including Angular, component-based frameworks, TypeScript, SCSS, RxJS, NgRxExperience with Node.js backend orchestration, BFF patterns, API fan-out, session management, middleware orchestrationIntegration expertise across backend systems including product catalogs, carrier integrations, device inventory, trade-in services, activation APIs, billing systemsKnowledge of mobile commerce product catalogs, plan configurations, BYOD compatibility, trade-in workflows, multi-line management, promotion enginesExperience with converged commerce architecture spanning multiple product linesPlatform scalability experience including design systems, component libraries, modular architecture, micro-frontends, API optimizationCI/CD pipelines, release management, blue/green deployments, feature flag strategies, branching strategiesPerformance engineering expertise including page load optimization, API response time, payload optimization, caching strategiesObservability and monitoring for application performance and production healthUnderstanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA)Familiarity with security practices for consumer-facing eCommerceAbility to drive scalable engineering solutions without micromanagingNavigating ambiguity in a rapidly evolving product space

The base pay for this position generally is between $155,600.00 and $300,800.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
