**What you will be doing**
The Senior Director will report to the Vice-President, Canadian Corporate Credit Risk Management and is an integral part of the Canadian Corporate Credit team. The Senior Director, Corporate Credit Risk is accountable for the management and adjudication of accounts within Canadian Corporate Mining/Forestry and Canadian Corporate Diversified portfolios. In addition, Canadian Corporate Credit provides advice and counsel to its Line of Business partners in fulfillment of the corporate credit risk components of their strategic plans (e.g., assist in the coordination/presentation of the annual Industry Reviews). You will work closely and collaboratively with our business partners to understand, measure, and monitor risk ensuring adherence to CIBC’s policies in order to maintain a risk profile that is consistent with a prudently run financial institution.

**How you’ll succeed**
+ **Client Relationship Management & Collaboration** - Develop strong relationships and work collaboratively with line of business partners.. Develop a high level of knowledge of industry sectors covered, and provide advice to executives on relevant matters. Attend client meetings with front-line relationship managers as appropriate.
+ **Client Advice** - Provide constructive advice and guidance to relationship managers on credit transactions, within CIBC’s credit policies and guidelines and CIBC’s risk appetite.
+ **Risk Management and Compliance -** Demonstrate a keen understanding of current and developing regulatory issues, as well as CIBC credit policies, guidelines and procedures. Effectively utilize CIBC risk rating methodologies to ensure an objective and accurate assessment of risk in credit transactions.
+ **Analyze, Report** **& Present** – Contribute to and participate in presentations to senior management and other stakeholders, analyzing the portfolio, emerging risks and industry trends. Provide consulting and assistance as a subject matter expert to influence the development, implementation and management of policies and programs related to the sector(s) covered.
**Who you are**
+ **You can demonstrate experience in** managing large corporate credit deals, and possess superior analytical skills and effective communication. You should be able to demonstrate the ability to build trusting and respectful partnerships with stakeholders from different groups and at different levels across the organization. Though the portfolio covers both Diversified and Resources sector, any prior experience in Mining would be a asset.
