Summary

The software development team of the Video Technology group designs and builds software components for the Fibe TV, Alt TV and Satellite TV lines of business.

Our product portfolio covers a broad range of TV-related functions including live rights management, Video on Demand (VoD), video delivery, service provisioning, authentication, authorizations, end-user applications and much more.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior DevOps Platform Developer in our Bell MediaTV unit, you'll be a key leader within our Platform Engineering team, architecting and delivering a exceptional developer experience with reusable infrastructure, services, software components, and tools, powering up the next-gen Bell Fibe TV product.

We are looking for a seasoned professional who can drive innovation, mentor team members, and make high-impact technical decisions in our dynamic, technology-driven environment. You will have the following key responsibilities:

Design, implement and maintain advanced hybrid-cloud infrastructure and platform components, leveraging industry-leading DevOps practices Lead the development of sophisticated tools that enable frictionless developer workflows Consult with and advise development teams on architectural decisions, helping solve complex technical challenges, as well as understanding their needs and challenges Architect and build highly resilient, fault-tolerant, and scalable solutions that serve millions of Canadians Evaluate, recommend and implement new tools, technologies and approaches to continuously improve productivity, reliability and system performance Create comprehensive technical documentation, develop reference architectures, and provide mentorship to junior engineers Lead incident response efforts for critical systems and develop strategic solutions to prevent recurrence Critical Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience. 5+ years of experience in DevOps / Platform engineering role with demonstrated technical leadership Advanced knowledge of infrastructure as code concepts and tools (Ansible, Terraform, Crossplane) Expert-level understanding of containerization and platform technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, GKE, OpenShift) Proven experience designing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines and managing complex monorepo structures (GitLab & GitHub) Advanced proficiency in shell scripting and higher-level languages (Java, Typescript, Go, Node.JS) as well as build tools (Gradle, Nx) Deep operational knowledge of distributed systems and services like MongoDB, Kafka, Redis Expert understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL, web application security, and experience designing multi-tier web application architectures Demonstrated track record of successful technical innovation and implementation of new technologies Exceptional communication skills with ability to translate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences Experience mentoring junior engineers and influencing cross-functional teams Bilingual (French/English) Preferred Qualifications Track record of leading technical initiatives in a DevOps or Platform Engineering role Expert-level experience with GCP and AWS services including cost optimization strategies Experience implementing and optimizing enterprise-grade monitoring and observability solutions Advanced networking skills including service mesh architectures Experience leading teams using Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) Proven ability to lead technical teams through complex design and implementation challenges Experience contributing to open source projects or creating internal shared libraries
