Responsibilities:Technical Leadership and InnovationDesign, implement, and maintain scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure solutions for high-traffic, mission-critical systemsUtilise Service Mesh technology to create a platform that simplifies application building, deployment, discovery, and maintenance for product teamsOptimise cloud resources, engineering processes, and DevOps practices to enhance efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectivenessChampion and implement DevOps best practices, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and robust CI/CD pipelinesCollaborate with other teams to integrate cloud infrastructure with Identity, API Platform, and Data Platform initiativesOperational ExcellenceImplement and maintain comprehensive monitoring, logging, and observability solutions using tools like OpenTelemetryLeverage data-driven insights to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement in our cloud infrastructureEnsure high availability, scalability, and performance of our cloud-based systemsImplement and maintain robust security practices in our cloud infrastructure, adhering to industry standards and best practicesCollaboration and LeadershipWork closely with product teams, architects, and other DevOps engineers to understand requirements and deliver optimal solutionsMentor junior engineers and contribute to fostering a DevOps culture within the organisationParticipate in and contribute to cross-domain technology forums such as Architecture Guild and Tech Leadership GuildCollaborate with Principal Engineers and Architects to drive Solution Design for large initiativesExperience and qualifications:Technical SkillsExtensive hands-on experience with AWS cloud platform, emphasising cloud-native services and best practicesProficiency in DevOps-centric languages such as Python and TypeScriptMastery of Infrastructure as Code tools, particularly AWS CDK and TerraformExpert knowledge of containerisation and orchestration technologies, especially Docker and KubernetesImplement and optimize scalable Kubernetes infrastructure, enhance security, cluster performance and cost-efficiency.Advanced experience with CI/CD tools and practices, including implementation of shift-left testing principlesStrong understanding of microservices, serverless computing, and event-driven architecturesProficiency with monitoring tools, log management, and observability platforms (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Elastic Stack)Experience with Service Mesh technologies, preferably Solo.ioSolid understanding of network security principles and implementation in cloud environmentsSoft SkillsExcellent problem-solving and analytical skillsStrong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersProven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teamsSelf-motivated with a passion for continuous learning and staying updated with the latest cloud and DevOps trendsQualificationsBachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experienceAdvanced AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional)5+ years of experience in DevOps roles, with a strong focus on cloud infrastructure
