As a Developer within our HR Tech team in Enderby, you’ll provide the high-quality programming and analytical skills needed to power the systems that support our people. You won’t just be writing code; you’ll be making a tangible difference by creating and enhancing applications that streamline the employee experience at NEXT. Working closely with a collaborative team of experts, you’ll translate complex business requirements into elegant technical solutions. Whether you are a seasoned pro or looking to sharpen your edge, we provide the environment and support to help you get up to speed with our specific platforms and hit the ground running.
What you’ll take on
In this role, your day-to-day will be varied, fast-paced, and technically rewarding. You will:
Build and enhance new and existing HR systems using a broad tech stack, ensuring our applications remain robust and future-proof.
Develop, test, and implement code to high industry standards, taking ownership of the full lifecycle from initial requirements to final deployment.
Collaborate across the business, working with fellow developers, business users, and other Systems departments to turn ideas into reality.
Solve complex problems by providing fault-finding expertise, following technical issues through to resolution to keep our systems running smoothly.
Maintain clear documentation for various audiences, ensuring our processes are transparent and easy to follow for the whole team.
Support key business events by providing out-of-hours support when required, ensuring our critical HR functions never miss a beat.
We are looking for a proactive problem-solver who enjoys working as part of a team but is equally comfortable using their own initiative. To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
Proven commercial experience in web development, specifically with C#, VB.NET, WebApi, ASP.NET, and SQL Server.
Front-end flair, with a strong grasp of MVC, jQuery, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and CSS, and an understanding of browser compatibility across mobile and desktop.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage your workload effectively and stay calm when faced with tight or changing deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, allowing you to convey technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
A growth mindset, with a desire to proactively improve your skills and stay ahead of emerging technology trends.
Technical curiosity, ideally with experience in TFS or Git, and an interest in (or experience of) Agile frameworks, SSIS, or UI design.
