Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer at ABB Oy, High Power division.

High Power division is further investing in drive system development in different fields of applications and thus strengthening its design organization. Look no further – we have an interesting opportunity for you! Selected person will work with our power electronics design group and will be located in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki, Finland.

Members of the power electronics design group are responsible for main circuit and power electronics design in various product development projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to deep-dive with world-class technology in demanding projects as a part of highly skilled team. Project related responsibilities will be agreed based on your background and experience.

Key responsibilities:

Designing, dimensioning and verifying the main circuit and power electronics of frequency convertersSpecifying verification tests and analyzing resultsCreating design documentationResearch of new components and topologiesCo-operating with subcontractors and with other design disciplines (e.g. mechanics, electronics, verification)Mentoring of younger colleagues

Qualifications for the role:

M.Sc. in power electronics or in a related fieldRelevant work experience in product development project(s)Knowledge of electrical drives’ main circuit topologies, in this role especially DC/DC conversion is essentialDeep understanding of inductive components is essentialProven competence on filter designProficiency in simulation tools (e.g. Simulink)Fluent communication in English, both written and spoken. Finnish is a plusStrong communication and interpersonal skills
