**Kadiak, LLC,** a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Senior Database Administrator/Engineer with a Top-Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility to lead our database management efforts across multiple platforms and environments. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with extensive experience in Microsoft SQL Server administration, high availability solutions, and cloud database technologies. This position requires strong technical expertise combined with leadership abilities to manage database infrastructure, optimize performance, and ensure data security compliance. This position is located in Washington, DC.

**Position Description:**
The Senior Database Administrator/Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems critical to our business operations. This role will involve managing Microsoft SQL Server environments, implementing high availability solutions, and supporting cloud database platforms. Principal responsibilities include:
+ Design, install, configure, and support Microsoft SQL database servers and infrastructure
+ Manage database administration tasks including backup and recovery strategies, security implementation, and user management
+ Implement and maintain SQL Server high availability solutions including Always-On Availability Groups
+ Optimize database performance through tuning, query optimization, and index management
+ Install and manage database security features including Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and encryption in-transit
+ Support cloud database platforms in AWS and Azure environments
+ Develop and maintain SQL/T-SQL programming including stored procedures and automation scripts
+ Provide technical leadership for junior database administrators
+ Ensure compliance with security standards and implement STIG requirements
+ Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database systems and processes
**Education and Experience:**
Required:
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
+ 7+ years of experience as a Database Administrator with Microsoft SQL Server
+ 5+ years of experience with SQL Server high availability solutions
+ 2+ years of experience with cloud database platforms (AWS, Azure)
+ Experience with database security implementation and compliance requirements
**Required Skills and Competencies:**
+ Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2016-2019) administration and configuration
+ Strong experience implementing and managing SQL Server Always-On High Availability clustering environments
+ Proficiency in SQL and T-SQL programming for stored procedures and database automation
+ Experience with SQL Server performance tuning and query optimization
+ Knowledge of database security best practices including encryption technologies (TDE, TLS, SSL)
+ Experience with Windows Server administration (2016-2019)
+ Ability to monitor and optimize database system performance
+ Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
+ Excellent documentation and communication skills
**Desired Skills and Competencies:**
+ Experience with cloud database migration and management in AWS and Azure
+ Knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
+ Experience with database development in Microsoft Visual Studio
+ Experience working in government or highly regulated environments
+ Knowledge of DevOps practices and database CI/CD pipelines
+ Familiarity with other database platforms (Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.)
**Clearance: Active Top Secret with SCI eligibility clearance**
