Data science presents an exciting opportunity in our industry. The Senior Data Scientist will be part of the Enterprise Data Services team which provides a variety of innovative solutions for our organization. This role is responsible for progressing HDR's machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities across corporate data areas and contributing to the broader portfolio of market sectors we serve. You will collaborate with technical staff and business groups to develop and scale data science initiatives, establish best practices, and mentor others to enhance our overall data science program.

Success in this role requires proven experience delivering data science solutions, strong collaboration across technical and leadership teams, and the ability to articulate complex AI concepts in practical, outcome-focused terms.

In the role of Senior Data Scientist, we'll count on you to:
Handle highly sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretionCollaborate with stakeholders to improve business decisions by identifying patterns and trends in dataDevelop data products including reports, visualizations, and dashboardsAdhere to software and data science development standardsPerform data acquisition, sourcing, cleaning, and exploratory data analysis (EDA)Transform raw data into usable attributes for machine learning modules through feature engineeringManage model lifecycle including development, deployment, data drift detection, model retraining, and model inferenceCreate automated data pipelines and data engineering solutionsDevelop advanced and custom predictive models (classification, regression, time series, neural networks, and natural language processingLeverage predictive models to optimize business resultsMitigate bias and promote data privacy, ethics, transparency, explainability, and fairness in data science modelsProvide technical leadership and expertise on projects with cross functional teamsMentor, train, and develop team members and data science practices in the organizationIdentify, organize, and develop long term business and technology plans for data science strategiesTune models with training, hyperparameters with comprehensive validation and testing processesLeverage predictive models to optimize business results

Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degreeA minimum of 7 years' experience in a data science roleAcademic or professional experience with generative AI services

 Required QualificationsA degree in a closely related field or combination of education and relevant experienceA minimum of 5 years experience with data engineering tools and languages such as SQL, Power Query, and PandasA minimum of 5 years experience with business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Plotly, Seaborn, and MatplotlibA minimum of 5 years experience with data science languages such as Python and RSelf-motivated, detail-oriented professional, ability to multitask a mustProficiency with MS Office including Word and OutlookAbility to handle confidential informationExcellent writing and people skillsStrong math and organizational skillsFlexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and various managers in a fast-paced environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar, punctuation, proofreading, spelling and telephone skillsAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a mustIn-depth knowledge of machine learning algorithms, statistical models, and data analyticsExperience leading multiple complex data science projectsExperience leading and mentoring junior data scientistsExperience setting the strategic direction of data management, data science practices and technology planning
