Senior Data Engineer Lead – Banking Services
Position Description:

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our / client office at a minimum of 5 days a month- subject to change at any time. 

CGI is seeking an experienced Senior Data Modeler / Data Modeling Lead to join our Banking Services practice in Downtown Toronto. In this role, you will translate complex banking business concepts into conceptual, logical, and physical data models.

You will work with banking stakeholders, architects, engineers, and governance teams to support transformation across data warehouses, lakehouses, and cloud analytics platforms.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Data Modeling & Architecture - Deliver conceptual, logical, and physical data models for banking domains.
• Create ERDs for business and technical stakeholders.
• Build models for data warehouses, lakehouses, and domain data products.
• Support data mesh, data-product modeling, and Data Pattern 5.0. Documentation & Governance
• Build and maintain data dictionaries, metadata catalogs, and lineage.
• Define modelling standards, naming conventions, and best practices.
• Participate in governance, model reviews, and impact assessments. Collaboration with Engineering
• Translate models into engineering-ready specifications.
• Provide S2T mappings, schema definitions, and business rules.
• Work with engineering teams using PySpark and Databricks.
• Support and validate ETL/ELT pipelines in Azure Data Factory.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

- 7–12+ years of experience in data modeling or data architecture.
- Strong banking domain experience (accounts, loans, credit, payments).
- Proficiency with ER modeling tools (Erwin, ER/Studio, Sparx EA, SQLDBM).
- Strong knowledge of warehouse design, star/snowflake schemas, data mesh, and Data Pattern 5.0.
- Hands-on PySpark experience for distributed processing and transformations.
- Experience with Azure Databricks, ADF, Spark, ADLS, Synapse.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Databricks Unity Catalog.
- Experience with IFRS 9, Basel, payments, or compliance reporting.
- Knowledge of Data Vault 2.0, canonical, or event-driven modeling.
- Agile experience.
- Degree in CS, Engineering, or related field.
