Data Architect – Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦

We’re seeking an experienced Data Architect to help shape our data ecosystem and develop scalable data models that support our business transformation. You will play a key role in defining domain data architecture, ensuring data quality, and driving consistency across solutions as we continue building a smoke‑free future.

What You’ll Do

Collaborate with team members to understand data requirements and translate them into robust data models.Lead data modeling and design activities with the appropriate methodologies and level of detail.Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, governance standards, and business processes.Understand and document business processes related to data creation, management, and use.Partner with Data Engineers to integrate data models into pipelines.Design and govern Domain Data Architecture, ensuring consistency across solutions.Ensure effective data integration within the domain.Conduct data profiling and analysis to maintain high data quality and integrity.Document data models and metadata for transparency and compliance.Guide development teams on data modeling guidelines.Participate in data architecture reviews and recommend improvements.

What You Bring

Solid understanding of business processes tied to data creation and usage.Expertise in relational, NoSQL, and time‑based data models.Experience in data integration, data governance, and master data management.Ability to visualize complex data structures and communicate them effectively.End‑to‑end methodology experience from business requirements to data modeling.Experience with data warehousing and BI modeling (Inmon, Kimball, Data Vault, Codd).Knowledge of SQL (ANSI 2003/2023), Snowflake, and NoSQL technologies.Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing.Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL processes.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.4+ years of experience in data architecture or similar roles.Certification in data modeling or architecture (e.g., CDP).Experience with data modeling tools.Knowledge of data security and privacy standards.Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe 5.0).Experience with Snowflake (DDL/DML, SnowSight, Data Sharing/Data Exchange).Experience with AWS S3 & Athena.Experience with Confluence & Jira (Bitbucket is a plus).Solid understanding of data governance principles.

💰 Compensation Range: $120,000–$127,000 CAD + full benefits
