We are looking for a dedicated Senior Counsel like you to be a part of our team. **Job Summary and Qualifications** Attorney will serve as in-house counsel and as a general legal resource for planning, directing and supervising legal and compliance activities relating to the Shared Services Center (SSC) operations, with a primary focus on the collection of patient receivables from third party payers. Approximately 70-80% of Attorney’s time will be dedicated to collection activities. Through its Shared Services Centers (SSCs), Parallon Business Performance Group provides certain healthcare related shared services, including the collection of healthcare receivables, to both HCA affiliates and external customers. This position will work directly with Parallon Legal Staff, HCA legal staff and external counsel. What you will do in this role: + Review accounts and work with collections and payment compliance departments to reverse denials, resolve underpayments, combat payer stalls and otherwise collect on accounts receivables + Manage and resolve bankruptcy, receivership, lien, third party auto injury and worker’s compensation issues related to the collection of receivables + In conjunction with the Parallon Legal team and HCA Legal Department, manage outside counsel litigation against payers, as necessary + Handle third-party subpoenas and discovery requests + Provide legal advice to the SSC and recommend policies on such topics as debt collection; credit reporting; balance billing; hospital liens, bankruptcy; risk management; and health information management + Support the negotiation and contracting process for SSC local vendor agreements Supervise paralegal and other legal personnel + Serve as liaison to Parallon Legal team, HCA Legal Department and outside counsel **What qualifications you will need:** + JD from accredited Law School + Minimum ten (10) years legal experience, at least some of which should include dealing with Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and other collection agency requirements; ideal candidate will have substantial experience working with insurance companies and other third parties in the collection of patient receivables + Experience in estate/probate, lien law, workers compensation, bankruptcy, healthcare law, and collection of healthcare receivables preferred + Experience in drafting and negotiating contracts + An active license **Parallon (https://parallon.com/)** provides full-service revenue cycle management, or total patient account resolution, for HCA Healthcare.
