GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Corporate Accountant is responsible for executing key components of the corporate accounting and financial reporting processes. This role supports the monthly close, prepares journal entries and reconciliations, and contributes to the preparation of financial statements and audit deliverables.
This position requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who seeks opportunities to improve processes and enhance the quality of financial reporting.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Corporate Accounting and Monthly Close:
Prepare and post journal entries across corporate accounting areas, including SG&A, accruals, fixed assets, leases, and other assigned areasPrepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of reconciling itemsSupport the monthly and quarterly close process, including variance analysis and account reviewFinancial Reporting:
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsPrepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external reporting needsSupport audit requests by preparing workpapers and responding to auditor inquiriesTechnical Accounting:
Assist in researching and documenting accounting issues and transactionsSupport implementation of new accounting standards and policiesAssist with accounting for acquisitions and other complex transactions as neededInternal Controls:
Execute and document controls in support of financial reporting processesEnsure adherence to accounting policies and proceduresIdentify opportunities to improve controls and processesSystems & Process Improvements:
Identify and support improvements in accounting processes and reporting efficiencyAssist with system enhancements, implementations, and testing effortsLeverage tools and technology to streamline workflows and improve data accuracyEDUCATION & TRAINING
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance requiredCPA or progress toward certification preferredKNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or corporate accountingStrong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reportingExperience with ERPs required; experience with AS400, Cognos / TM1, SQL and PowerBI considered a plusMergers and acquisitions accounting and financial reporting experience a plusExperience with cloud-based financial reporting solutions (e.g., ActiveDisclosure, Workiva) a plusExperience with lease accounting software (e.g., CoStar, LeaseAccelerator, Virtual Lease) a plusSKILLS & ABILITIES
