DESCRIPTION: The Senior Corporate Accountant is a key member of the Finance team with a primary focus on financial reporting for Brookfield Properties’ North American portfolio. This role supports the accuracy and integrity of accounting processes, ensures compliance with internal controls and reporting standards, and contributes to the timely delivery of financial information with a multi-sector focus. The Senior Corporate Accountant will also assist with process improvement and automation initiatives that enhance efficiency and strengthen reporting practices. We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative professional who can partner effectively with colleagues across the Finance team and other corporate functions. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential, as the Senior Corporate Accountant will partner with regional and departmental teams to support effective execution of accounting and corporate initiatives. RESPONSIBILITIES: Financial Close & Reporting + Assist with the monthly and quarterly close process by preparing journal entries and accruals, reconciling accounts, and coordinating with relevant teams to ensure accurate financial reporting + Coordinate reporting inputs from multiple departments and ensuring reporting is accurate, timely and aligned with leadership expectations + Assist the Finance team with preparing and coordinating intercompany billings with various regional teams, including monitoring the settlement of intercompany balances and ensuring timely collection of intercompany balances + Respond to ad hoc reporting requests and assist with operational tasks, including invoice coding or preparation of payments Corporate Initiatives + Contribute to continuous improvement of reporting processes, including identifying opportunities for efficiency or process automation + Support cross-functional projects tied to strategic priorities and financial transformation. QUALIFICATIONS SERVICE / PERSONAL SKILLS: + Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy when dealing with high volumes of data + Highly motivated and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while collaborating effectively in a team environment + Proven ability to build and maintain trusted partnerships across all levels of the organization + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically, innovate and deliver meaningful insights + Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines EXPERIENCE: + Minimum 3 years of experience in public accounting or experience in financial reporting and analysis; exposure to the real estate industry is an asset + Solid understanding of IFRS and working knowledge of U.S. GAAP + Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems such as Yardi preferred EDUCATION/DESIGNATIONS/LICENSES: + Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and a professional accounting designation (CPA) We are proud to create a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
