Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Senior Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role requires expertise in programming PLCs from scratch, primarily using Siemens, and troubleshooting complex automation systems. You will be responsible for creating electrical schematics using Solidworks Electrical or similar CAD software, developing HMIs, and occasionally traveling to customer sites to support installations. Our projects focus mainly on the automotive and RV industries, offering a diverse range of challenges and opportunities.
ResponsibilitiesProgram PLCs from scratch, primarily using Siemens.Troubleshoot complex automation systems.Create electrical schematics within Solidworks Electrical or similar CAD software.Develop HMIs.Travel to customer sites (10–15% local travel) to support installations.Solve unique problems with custom automated equipment.Essential Skills5+ years of experience in PLC programming from scratch, particularly Allen-Bradley.Proficiency in HMI programming.Experience with Fanuc Robotics integration.Knowledge of VFDs.Additional Skills & Qualifications4-year Engineering Degree, preferably in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.Experience in custom automation from a machine build environment.Understanding of motion, valving, cylinder, and network communications.Machine build experience is a plus.Work Environment
Our work environment is laid back with a casual dress code, where even the owners wear jeans and hoodies unless meeting with customers. The automation plant spans 2,000 square feet, with 1,800 square feet dedicated to the work area, assembly area, welding area, and three HAAS CNC machines, and 200 square feet for the office environment. The plant has cement floors, and parts for customers are organized in containers outside of various workspaces. We pride ourselves on our collaborative team and the opportunity to wear multiple hats, solving diverse and unique problems. Working hours are flexible, starting at either 7 AM or 8 AM and ending at 4 PM or 5 PM, with a half-hour unpaid lunch break. After six months, employees gain access to Udemy for learning and development, alongside two weeks of PTO.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $43.00/hr.
