Job Description Summary

The Senior Controllership Specialist supports statutory processes, financial reporting, and controllership needs within the commercial real estate sector. Responsibilities include collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, such as outsourced service providers and consultants, to deliver accurate and timely financial information. The role reports into the Controllership CoE and ensures the integrity of reported results, standardizes processes, and promotes a culture of controls and continuous improvement. Attention to detail and a commitment to process enhancement are critical to the success of the role.

Job Description

Core responsibilities:

Partner with local controllers for successful delivery of day-to-day legal entity controllership and for maintaining financial control and integrity in line with group accounting policies.

Actively participate in the month-end close, including accrual calculations, lease accounting, revenue related journal entries, intercompany recharges, and reporting.

Coordinate outsourced partner accounting operations during month-end close.

Review or prepare balance sheet reconciliations, focusing on leases, intercompany, prepayments, accruals, and direct/indirect taxes.

Perform monthly review of profit & loss activity. Partner with FP&A teams and assist in budgeting/forecasting.

Review group accounting reports and prepare insightful balance sheet and profit & loss commentary.

Identify opportunities for process improvement, standardization, and additional financial controls. Participate or lead improvement projects.

Act as the statutory accountant for multiple legal entities. Manage full statutory cycle from extended trial balance preparation through audit to financial statement filing.

Manage the VAT process for multiple entities, including periodic filings, tax payments, reconciliation, and review of tax assessments.

Qualifications, skills, knowledge & experience:

3+ years of experience in an outsourced finance environment (preferably record-to-report) and/or audit.

Degree in Finance & Accounting or another related subject. A qualified CPA / ACCA / CIMA is an advantage.

Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Experience with ERP systems (preferably Oracle HFM, Workday or SAP).

A good level of Excel knowledge and experience is essential.

USGAAP/IFRS experience is an advantage.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to organize and prioritize workloads whilst working to tight and regular deadlines.
