Position Title: Senior Contracts Engineer (oil and gas)

Role: Is Open for expats / international applicants on a Monday to Friday Schedule.

Job Purpose:

To lead and manage contract and procurement activities, ensuring alignment with operational goals, HSE standards, and legal compliance in Papua New Guinea for LNG project in a top tier oil and gas company.

Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement contracting strategies and tender processes. Ensure HSE compliance and integration in all contractual documents. Provide expert advice on contractual matters to internal stakeholders. Conduct market analysis and maintain supplier databases. Lead bid evaluations, negotiations, and contract awards. Manage contract performance, amendments, claims, and renewals. Collaborate with technical teams and legal departments to ensure contract integrity. Activities: Liaise with Métier Partners and participate in contract-related processes and communications. Work closely with DUET counterpart to create contract dossiers and define responsibilities. Validate contract strategies, manage bidding processes, and execute documentation. Adapt standard and template documents to local conditions. Provide contractual guidance to contract owners/entities. Use frame agreements executed by headquarters when available. Maintain qualified contractor/supplier lists and perform market studies. Arrange and attend Contracts Committee Meetings. Pre-qualify bidders and define evaluation criteria. Prepare and issue RFIs, RFQs, and ITTs. Ensure alignment with HSE clauses, company rules, and applicable legislation. Draft and negotiate Terms & Conditions with Legal and Insurance teams. Conduct commercial bid analysis with DUET. Ensure contractor due diligence via SEQUANA. Input contract data into AGORA database. Support legal and financial departments in dispute resolution. Monitor contract status and participate in performance reviews and amendments. Lead and participate in DUET meetings.  Skills & Competencies: Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Excellent planning, organizing, and coordination skills. Proficiency in contract law, procurement processes, and negotiation. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Familiarity with contract management systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Context & Environment: Strategic role supporting top Oil and Gas operator for LNG operations in Papua New Guinea. Operates in a sensitive environment with complex community, environmental, and biodiversity challenges. Requires strong engagement with local stakeholders and regulatory frameworks. Involves interdisciplinary collaboration across operations and functional entities. The role functions as part of a DUET team, interfacing with Métier Partners. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Law, or related field. Minimum 8 years of professional experience in contracts and procurement. International experience preferred but not essential.
