WSP is actively seeking an Senior Consultant – Resoruce Geology to become an integral
part of our technical support, Mine Engineering, Stability, and Geology team based in
Bengaluru/Noida & onsite, dedicated to servicing our global mining business.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in conducting specialized analyses tailored
to the unique demands of mining projects. As a valued member of the WSP iCRC Global
Specialist Mining Team, you will be at the forefront of delivering the highest caliber of
technical work, contributing significantly to the ongoing success of our mining initiatives
through a client-centric approach to project delivery.
This role entails close collaboration with WSP's global leaders in the mining sector, with a
focus on the geotechnical assessment of mining projects (openpit and underground
mines). Key technical responsibilities will revolve around spearheading the development of
geotechnical models and stability assessments for openpit and underground hardrock
mining and crafting concise project reports.

• Assisting with geotechnical characterization and assessments in support of
underground, open pit, and mine closure rock mechanics projects.
• Assisting with the planning of geotechnical field data collection programs including
developing health and safety plans and conducting utility locates.
• Processing and analyzing geotechnical data in Excel and RocScience Dips. Expertise
in CAD based software (AutoCAD, Leapfrog, Datamine, Surpac, Deswik,Maptek and
ArcGIS).
• Previous experience in Geological Exploration, ore body interpretation, modelling
and resource revere estimation as per NI 43-101, S-K 1300, JORC
• Preparing and working with 2D simple numerical models and eventually 3D
numerical models for stability analysis of slopes and underground stopes using
RocScience software.
• Conducting geotechnical data collection in the field including geotechnical core
logging, hydrogeological packer testing and simple surveying.
• Providing guidance to onsite personals during geotechnical data collection,
typically drilling contractors.
• Participate in all aspects of the project lifecycle, including proposal, contract, scope
of work, technical quality, and senior review. Consult with appropriate peers.
• Deliver technically appropriate and cost-effective solutions to clients that meet
time, budget, quality, and safety requirements.
• Perform statistical analyses and interpret drill and laboratory data to characterize
material properties for use in geotechnical design.
• Identify and manage geotechnical hazards, Conduct stability analyses and material
characterization.Review and assess designs using 3D modeling packages.
• Conduct comprehensive geotechnical assessments for mining facilities, including
open-pit mines and underground mines. Identify and analyze potential geotechnical risks and failure modes specific to mining environments.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure the seamless integration of
geotechnical assessments within the overall project objectives.
• Work closely with WSP’s global Mining team. Acknowledge the global Mining
team's business needs and user stories. Translate user stories or business needs into
technical tasks, including design analyses.
• Provide expert technical guidance and recommendations to project teams,
stakeholders, and clients. Translate project requirements into actionable technical
tasks and execute them efficiently.
• Utilize industry-leading geotechnical software tools such as FLAC, Plaxis,
Rocscience, Geostudio, and others to perform geotechnical analyses.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and documentation for
both internal and external audiences.
• Support business development activities by providing technical insights for
proposals, client meetings, and presentations. Uphold health, safety, and
environmental standards throughout all project phases.

• Possess a robust background in geological engineering or mining, complemented
by exposure to geology and rock mechanics.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to provide expert
consulting services in the field of rock mechanics.
• Exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills, as the role necessitates proactive
engagement with intermediate and senior team members to secure projects.
• Display enthusiasm for fieldwork, actively engaging in the collection of geological
and geotechnical data essential for rock mass characterization and geotechnical
designs.
• Show a strong commitment to continuous learning and the consistent delivery of
high-quality outcomes within project schedules and budgets, while taking pride in
one's work.
• Maintain meticulous attention to detail, alongside the ability to efficiently execute
systematic tasks and effectively communicate findings and their implications.
• Possess proficiency in 3D visualization software, with experience in tools such as
Leapfrog, AutoCAD, Surpac, Datamine, and PointStudio being advantageous.
• Boast a solid academic foundation with coursework and research focused on the
geotechnical aspects of mining facilities.
• Demonstrate excellent problem-solving capabilities, with a proven ability to
conduct complex geotechnical analyses.
• Exhibit effective communication and teamwork skills, essential for collaborating

• Showcase the ability to translate technical findings into clear and concise reports

• Maintain proficiency in spoken and written English, with the ability to understand
and speak French considered an advantage, although not mandatory.

• Eager to work in the field, collecting essential geological and geotechnical data for
rock mass characterization and geotechnical designs. Previous fieldwork experience is a plus
• Solid background in geological engineering or mining with exposure to geology
and rock mechanics.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in French is
an asset.
• Ability to effectively assist and write geotechnical reports.
• Master's degree in Engineering Geology with a focus on Geotechnical Applications
for Mining, Exploration, and Resource Reserve Estimation based on NI 43-101, S-K
1300, and JORC.
• 6 to 10 years of relevant experience in consulting for Engineering Geology
Applications in both open-pit and underground mining.
