We are looking for a Senior Consultant to join our People Consulting team in our Auckland office. You’ll work with clients to help ensure they can attract and retain the very best talent, fueling future growth. Working in networked, high-performing teams that deliver exceptional client service, you’ll measure and monitor staff performance, examine roles and responsibilities and propose new ways of addressing the challenges of the market.
Through structured learning and development, you’ll gain the consultancy and analytical skills required to solve complex people challenges. And by joining a global network, you’ll gain valuable experience across different geographies and sectors.
This role is based in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland).
Ko Tō Rourou | Your key responsibilities
In this role, you will support the delivery of high-impact projects within the People Consulting team.
Partner with business leaders by applying your understanding of business context and talent strategies to support organisational goals and workforce priorities. Act as a trusted advisor, building credibility and using data-driven insights to analyse talent challenges, facilitate critical conversations, and influence strategic outcomes. Apply sound judgment to identify and resolve complex issues, ensuring successful delivery of people-related projects and initiatives. Collaborate across functions and respond to specific market and business needs by designing strategies in areas such as performance management, learning and development, workforce planning, reward, and talent management — while leveraging internal resources to address key people priorities.
Ngā Pūkenga | Skills and attributes for success
Practices of business processes and related concepts that explains the nature, cause and effects of individual and integrated business activities with a strong emphasis on client centricity and co-design—ensuring solutions reflect the lived experience of clients. Must be a New Zealand citizen or resident. A background in consulting (minimum 3 years) or relevant experience in HR, , or people-related functions such as recruitment, L&D, employee relations, or operating model design. Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, identifying, anticipating, and resolving complex issues, problems and concerns in a timely manner while applying active listening, empathy, and a focus on client outcomes to ensure impactful and human-centred solutions.
Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below:
Proven experience working in large or matrix organisations, with exposure to HR systems or technologies. An interest or background in organisational psychology, development, or culture change is a plus. Strong decision-making skills, including the ability to evaluate strategies based on cost, benefits, risks, and stakeholder buy-in. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build authentic relationships, engage diverse stakeholders, and clearly convey complex ideas using appropriate techniques, including storytelling. Creative, adaptable, and flexible mindset, with a strong ability to question assumptions, apply professional scepticism, and tailor approaches to suit varying contexts, environments, and audiences.
