Senior Consultant, Asset Servicing

Senior Consultant, Client Servicing role reporting to the Custody Servicing Manager and is responsible for sustaining relationships and delivering high-quality service for complex clients and client appointed investment manager relationships.

 

Major Duties:

1. Responsible for providing client service through the execution of daily functions and tasks.
2. Interfacing with internal partner areas to address complex issues, leading process improvements for complex clients, acting as a technical resource for members of the team and a point of escalation for internal and external partners.
3. Develop and maintain relationships with complex investment managers, or clients, and internal Northern Trust partners or groups to better understand the needs of the investment manager, or client, and articulate those needs to collaborate on query resolution, process improvements and other service enhancements.

4. Understand client's end-to-end process flows, business needs and deliverables, and ensuring adherence to relevant service level agreements.  

5. Resolve complex inquiries and escalations where expertise is required to interpret policies, guidelines, and/or processes.  Facilitate solutions that ensure operational excellence.   

6. Provide leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment which encourages employee participation, teamwork, and communication. 

7. Build and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external partners.  Interact with various internal partner groups to aid in or facilitate in the resolution of complex issues and inquiries across the many global markets the investment managers or clients invest. 

8. Understand market and industry trends and translate to stakeholders. Contribute to the development, maintenance, and adoption of standards as market, policies change.  

9. Actively involved in ongoing training for new hires and other members of the service team.

10. Analytically and procedurally competent, representing the team on cross-function process or project deliverable. 

11. Identify and lead process improvement opportunities, shortcomings, and requirements for complex issues related to clients, or client-appointed investment managers, collaborating across the operations organization to drive outcomes. 

12. Responsible for understanding client's end-to-end process flows, business needs and deliverables.
13. Resolve client issues or inquiries with limited input.
14. Understand current Service Level Agreements (SLAs) that are directly related to job function(s).
15. Mentor junior Partners on how to establish, build and maintain effective working relationships with key Partners internal and external to the organization.
16. Drive the engagement of other Partners as appropriate to solve client inquiries/issues.
17. Recognize impact of personal job function(s) on IOO peers and applicable shared services Partners to improve Business As Usual knowledge gaps.
18. As an individual contributor, continue to build and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external Partners.

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of financial services, asset management and/or investment operations
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Highly flexible and adaptable to change

Experience:

• A college or university degree and/or 20+ years of relevant work experience
• Previous Financial Industry Operations, Asset Management and/or Investment Operations experience a plus
• Previous Client Service experience in a service oriented environment
• Previous exposure to business process and/or technology enhancement initiatives
